- 2019 Maine State Champion João Rodrigues VictorJ recites "The Light of Stars" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow at the 2019 Poetry Out Loud National Semifinals.
Longfellow is the only American poet who has a monument in Westminster Abbey's Poets Corner. Grand to see our national poet represented here...
How wonderful for this exhuberant endearing and delightful young man! How well read..I am happy too for the Lewiston high school where my son in law teaches!! Soccer AND poetry!!

Excellent reading of a wonderful poem. Well done!
Represents Maine well.
So excellent; what a handsome boy!
Beautiful!! After searching 2023 poetry and getting nothing but whiney self pitying victim-hood this was so so refreshing. Words worth hearing 💜
Thankyou for sharing!!
Star-dust' in shadow,~ pin-priks' shining darkly. Of light' recessive, fore-longing. Depths' beyond, sight. Find' high-up, to finate' blight. Covering space' as celestials, revolve' softly. Distant' and present, though' uncertain. How' the future set, held much. There-lieing past' to follow, such' titans. In knowledge, have idols' fell. Gained not' second chance. Than' what-lay skies, outside' earthen realm. Beholding' gaze, upon pattern's bright shimmer. Displayed' clearly, under mid-night's bold' glimmer. Cast' far, and abroad. Concealed' under heaven's, infinitely' folded hem.
