Thanks for the video, Mike! I do have to ask what I think is a rather obvious question. Why do they have a clear plunger with a backlight, but the backlight doesn't show through the key caps? Isn't that kind of the point? If I could not see the keys in the backlight, That would be entirely missing the point for me.
Sorry I’m not quite sure how to answer this 😉 the light does show through the keys through the plunger, it isn’t per key lighting but it does a good job 👍 Does this sort of answer the question?
@@mikesunboxing Yea, I guess so... My Logitec G810 shows through the keys, as does my Razor laptop. I have never experienced that kind of lighting before, so I would need to use it to form a final opinion. Since I look at the keyboard when I type, it might be an issue for me in a dimly lit room.
@@skystalker7700 My first rgb keyboard was the Luxeed RAMA, it was the first one on the market, wile it looked nice it was bloody awful. then i moved on to a logitech G15, not rgb only lit up orange but damn i loved that thing, after that moved on to a corsair K70 RGB, what a piece of crap that thing was, leds failed on ot all over the place.

MSI products are of high quality yup, Mate i just bought The MSI GS66 Laptop with RTX 3060 and intel 8 core 11th gen CPU, it is absolutely amazing, MSI definitely make the best laptops and by a mile, its actually faster than my desktop PC which has a Ryzen 2700X and Radeon 5700XT, gaming laptops are the way to go i think, no more messing about with scalpers and graphics cards, this laptop even has 2xpcie gen4 M.2 slots, i absolutely love this thing, and since ive had it i don't even use my desktop computer. It has a Steelseries full RGB keyboard built in too!
@@mikesunboxing I really cannot believe just how good this laptop is, i have always steered away from them in the past but something told me to just buy it, they are very premium mate, it's like light years faster than my desktop machine whilst only consuming 165w in total, their UEFI implementations are definitely the best as well, i was looking at the asus laptops but there was a big red flag when i saw they use OLED screens, this is a BIG NO-NO for any kind of gaming, also i didnt like the asus 4 zone only rgb keyboards in them, you literally have to babysit these OLED screens otherwise they can get permanently damaged in as little as a month. My wife's samsung's OLED screen on her phone is completely destroyed and she's only had it 3 months, there's literally screen burn on every corner from the clock and app logos, it is unperfected technology and should be avoided at all costs mike, she works in currys and you ought to see how many of the televisions are damaged it's cringe-worthy considering these televisions are well over £2,000 some over £4000, they should have stuck with plasma they were much better espcially the pioneer kuro sets.

Is the keyboard comfortable without a wrist rest? was thinking of getting one but it seems quite high for typing. tbh torn between the Tecware Phantom L and this, the Phantom L is mecha but I've read issues about the keys failing too soon, while the MSi seems more reliable.
the good thing is the tecware has hot swapable switches where the msi is a fixed membrane, i like them both but for different reasons. like the msi rgb integration with the msi eco system but that is a rather shallow thing on my part
Oh dear that is a lot to work with there is an option to let the msi software take full control of RGB but I would need to test it fully before I recommended it for your situation
I have been checking the compatibility between iCUE/corsair and mystic light/MSI recently. I don't think there is any option for them to sync. I have checked the K55 keyboard and iCUE 220T case and they both don't have MSI mystic light compatibility.
This keyboard's RGB control is not very good at all, you can't turn down the brightness of that stupid led strip that is on the right bottom it stays full brightness. It doesn't even have zone control even though the leds do scroll across the keyboard in the preset settings. The keys although nicer to type on than basic membrane but they are quit flappy and noisy.

why did they even bother with a backlight? The legends do not seem to be that translucent, its just a gimmick at this point
it might be the camera but to me even in sunlight or studio lights the keys are easy to read

the HP is the technically better keyboard as it has real mechanical switches, but i don't like the look of it personally

you can change it in the dragon centre software of use the FN key and the INS or DEL key to cycle through the options

they are transparent and then black coated except the letting and this lets light through

basically they are trying to emulate a mechanical feel using rubber domes.
