  • In this video I unbox and install Victron Energy Phoenix Inverter 12/1200 VA in my Mercedes G.
Minimum recommended battery capacity (from user's manual) is 150Ah for this inverter. I have installed 2 x 100Ah AGM deep cycle batteries from Exide and this setup worked great for me for years. One AGM is for engine and second one for all additional electrics. They are connected with IBS DS dual battery system and that worked for me great as well. I can very easy connect 2 batteries together with one click of a button and charging is straight forward with the alternator. I can also replece engine battery in case of emergency with additional battery - that is advantage of having 2 identical batteries.
Both AGM batteries (that I have) are in pretty good condition and I am also going to add MPPT solar charger to the system so having that in mind I will test/use this setup for sometime and decide whether I want to switch to lithium and DC/DC charger or stay with 2 same AGM batteries.
