    It's always helpful to hear about how other artists are making a living with their work. Selling art in person (conventions mostly) has been the largest piece of the pie for me so far but I would love to get more passive streams going, if possible, since I have a big life change coming up.
    I have been interested in art licensing for a while and I realize there are more or less passive ways of selling art for licensing and there seems to be a lot of ways into that world. I'd love to hear any resources you can share about moving in that direction

    Love the video, full of great ideas that as a freelancer myself agree with and some that I didn’t think of. You’re extremely lucky to have found that first fine art job. I have 1 steady freelance client that is half my income, and the other half I’m still trying to figure out😂 part time remote graphic designer? Selling art prints and products? Fiverr? Upwork? CZcams videos, skillshare classes, licensing which I know nothing about or where to start, get an agent? Just soooo many ideas that I know the only way to know if they work for me is to just do them and see. You inspire me to start creating CZcams videos, but then I have to invest in a camera and I don’t think I’m very good in videos 🤭in any case still trying to figure out which other streams would be right for me and deciding where to start

      Ana Victoria Morales hi! I know what you mean... I went through the same scenarios for the past three years and have done A LOT of things before this mix started to work for me, only recently in the past few months.
      I did creative direction on the side, all sorts of projects with people, had and agent and had to end that relationship, and lalalala. So it’s been a lot of knowing when something is working and knowing when to STOP. And I’ve definitely stopped at least as much and I’ve started 🤓

    Hi Jess! Thank you for sharing this with us :) I’ve been follow you for a while and I am super interested to know how was your process going to kids illustrator to final art pieces meaning how did you know what art will work and finding the right connections to sell it?

    • @studioxjess
      @studioxjess  Před 5 lety

      Carolina Pena hi Carolina! So, my whole career path was : work in creative side of branding and marketing for 8 years, then quit 3 years ago to become an artist/illustrator.
      I thought I was going to be a children’s illustrator initially and that’s what I built my portfolio for (picture books) and I still intended to do that! Slowly slowly...
      But my friend was in product development and we decided to develop the fine arts collection. And that’s what has just taken off so far... everything takes off in its own time I think with the right mix of talent + effort. Having connections also is a good way to get your foot in the door.
      In terms of how I know what to create... it’s instinct, the fact that I know the market pretty well and I consider that when I create, and also taste... and when I am in the zone I become a mad art woman who eats, sleeps and breathes the collection 🤓
