VESSEL BALL GRIP Ratchet Screwdriver (5PC. Set in EVA FOAM #2) a.co/d/dlfnokS
Good review. A couple observations.
1. You mentioned the play being excessive for such an expensive screwdriver. These are only $17 individually. The Vessel sets are kind of expensive.
2. The reversing lever is easily switched accidentally in use as you mentioned.
3. I absolutely love these. I have the non ratcheting ball grips as well. I’ve used the ratcheting one a lot and it has held up. The back drag gets better with use. Once a screw is loose you don’t have any transition with your hand to spin loose the rest of the way. It makes using standard screwdrivers feel outdated.
Thanks for commenting. Ideally I would like to see small improvements made but overall they are a big step in the right direction.
I have the 100xPH2. I really like it. I wish they made an extension with a bit driving tip. Thanks for the video.
Great observation. Agreed a bit driver in this setup would be a game changer. Thank you for commenting.
Vessel recently released a bit driver version. It’s 2200MBH.
It’ll be interesting to see if the bit fitment is tight like it is on the stubby ratchet portion.
They now have one
They are a great set of drivers. My set purchased from Amazon UK are also made in Thailand, I could only find the complete set with all 5 ball drivers though. I did actually test my set with an insulation tester in my video and they do stand up pretty well against the voltage. Probably more for protection against the screwdriver shaft shorting between terminals rather than protecting a person using them against direct contact.
Thanks for watching and sharing
I have the set that doesn’t ratchet, the main reason I didn’t get the ratchet set is when you ware out the bit you are having to replace with a expensive tip.
I do like the ball design though and I like the manual ones a lot.
Thanks for sharing a excellent video and for being honest. 😃
Thanks for commenting. My goal is to help educate and review from a no biased standpoint.
Hoping they come out with a universal bit driver soon so you can exchange just them as they fail.
They just released a ratcheting ball grip with replaceable bits 'VESSEL 2200MBH'
Thanks for sharing. I found it and made another video on it. Check it out!
This would be a perfect set for me if it was VDE 1000V approved.
I own some VDE interchangeable shafts sets, from Wera, Wiha, PB Swiss and Felo.
I tried the Vessel VDE set and I love the ballgrip and how well it fits my hand (close to the Wera Grip) but they don't have a VDE set with interchangeable shafts.
Since when I do maintenance as a Industrial EE, my backpack needs to include everything I need in terms of tools and diagnostic equipment (and a laptop too).
This kind of tools kits cut weight and space on the bag, meaning I can have a lighter bag with everything I need (with extra space for replacement parts) or a smaller bag (for first intervention/emergency cases).
Not that 5 extra grips of a normal VDE set of screwdrivers is going to increase the weight a lot, but it adds, and the space they take in the bag is also space I can use for other tools.
Great points. They should include a VDE option as well so you can minimize additional equipment on the job. Thanks for sharing.
I believe JP brand Annex has a 72T ratcheting ball head, just FYI.
Thanks for the heads up.
I love these ball grip drivers. However, I have yet to find a ratcheting screwdriver, including these, that do not accidentally shift gears during use. I spend more time fidgeting with the shifter than driving screws. Looking for suggestions.
That is a fair comment as i have caught the selector switch a time or two and it sucks. I still really like these regardless. Maybe check out my latest video on the Klein version that just came out. Its a nice all in one unit. Thanks again for commenting, please consider liking and subscribing!
I would hope a jis screwdriver would work on a jis screw
Affirmative
That no. 3 sure looks like a JIS ( Japanese industrial standard ) , which is on lots of vehicles now .
They claim #3 Phillip's on the box.
are they regular philips or JIS?
Phillips not JIS.
It's JIS no.2 not PH2 👍
This drive is not JIS. Its PH#2. I know they make JIS for others.
