No, 2003 was past the best. Den coming back beyond jumping the shark.
And Dennis was one of the worst characters ever
95 - 98 was the best. Around this time, the rot started to set, entering what I call the gangster era when everyone was a gangster with bundles of cash, and it was commonplace to sell half the VIC every other month. Phil slowly went from a mechanic who was handy with his fists to Reggie Kray.
For some bizarre reason, The Mitchell brothers become utterly insane about how much they loved their children, best demonstrated by trying to separate said children from their mothers, even playing a hand in their deaths.
Joe Wicks's schizophrenia plot and Phil's Alcoholism were great. You had non-violent characters like Robbie, Tony Hills, etc. Now everyone's a rapist, gangster, or murderer.
The most ludicrous element of the show now is the number of characters named after previous characters, Dot Cotton, Tiffany, and the list goes on and on.
Den's return was the point of no return; not only was it beyond stupid, but he was also a terrible character. And, of course, he went from being a petty criminal to a gangster. Everyone's a Bond villain, even Willmott Brown.
