I have the vinyl pressing of this album from 1977. The vinyl sounds beautiful. Analog tape mastering just sounds so detailed. That's all they had back in the day and that's all they needed. Josie is awesome from this album. Peg is another great one. Thank you for sharing.

A song that alludes to Homer's Odyssey (that tired sea song, danger on the rocks, tied to the mast etc). Of course, Odysseus returned home at last after 20 years away to find no peace, his house in chaos his grown son now a 20 year old man, and no one but his dog recognizing him. A dog that subsequently licks his hand and dies. A band on the constant travel hopefully finds they're home at last.

@@stevenmotchan2048 It is about Odysseus traveling past the deadly rocks off shore of the land of The Sirens. He demanded to be tied to the mast, while instructing all other crew to seal their ear canals with wax (so they would not be driven mad) while he alone could experience the Song of the Sirens (luring you to paradise/death on the rocks.) "You think you've heard this one before" Yes, you have. The Odyssey - Homer.

This is cool .... but one of the most influential bass players of all time died last week.... and you should check out his chops with a reaction to some of his work.... Francis Rocco Prestia was a founding member of Tower Of Power (a Soul Band playing Soul Music for 52 years and counting) .... He died at 69, but the band continues to do great music .... his best work, IMHO, can be captured in "What Is Hip" .... " Only So Much Oil" ..... and "Time Will Tell" .... but that's just me .... Tower Of Power had quite a reputation and a legacy as a horn based band ..... Check them out...

In some way and to some measure , we took this band for granted back then, even whilst we marvelled at them. We were spoilt, I guess. There was so much experimentation, vibe, optimism and sophistication back then. We could pick and choose and we thought it would last forever. Sadly that has all vaporised. We are now serfs to AI. Glad you can enjoy some of triumphs of the past, my sweet.

Such fun watching you discover truly great musical landmarks makes me happy to see young people find the depth of real talent in the world of music pirates that sample the greats and try to proclaim there " genius " a sad cometary to current music . This song is an example of true genius as it's a direct analogy to Homer's odyssey , when sailing past the isle of the Singing sirens homer had his crew tie him to the mast so he could hear ther e song the crew covered there ears as not to be beguiles by there voices and sail the ship onto the rocks sinking and dying in the sea as so many had done, kindest regards young musical explorer.

To me it sounds like a comparison with Homer's Odyssey, where Ulysses is forever traveling, trying to get home -- but he's heard the Sirens' song, and he likes it, and he decides that he'd prefer to stay in play, and to remain with the woman who's enchanted him rather than to go home again - there's a famous poem that personifies Ulysses' choice: czcams.com/video/oSIPOnVzL8I/video.html
