Also, the socket was not cast solid, and then drilled out, instead it was cast as a single flat sheet, which was then folded into a tube, and forge welded together.

This means that bronze blades from thousands of years ago are likely so well preserved because of this that they're still sharp enough to be used for their intended purpose without any restoration of any kind.

Whenever I look at casting or even regular metallurgy like this, my respect for these artists increases. Since not only do they have to deal with the right amount of high heat but also maintain a certain level of precision & hardwork while handling extremely hot metals which is truly on another level.
