    Thank you so much Ian, finally!!! i've found a tutorial that shows a simplistic and easy to use method to key cut 3d printable models, i kinda feel like alot of the methods for creating 3d printable miniatures are a well kept secret, so thank you so much for sharing :)

    This is amazing, thank you for sharing! Is that an updated method that you recommend? I see this video is from 3 years ago.
    Thank you!

    this is the best vid bout slicing and keying the same time, good work! 👍
    i was wondering how "thin" can you go with that cut? Isnt that gap very big on the neck? 🤔 i have no exp. so i might be wrong 🤷‍♂️

    Thanks for this awesome video Ian, I've been struggling for the last few days looking at videos on how to do this with very little success that fully works.
    Man this video is just amazing. Straight to the point, and so easy to follow, and just that quick I've cut my model, and added keys where they needed to be all in one go, with no stress.
    Could you please drop me the info on what days, and time you stream on other 3D printing tops like this.
    Again thanks a million.

    8:36 you say to go to the folder..... my model isn't in a folder as I had no idea to put it into a folder before I started to slice it. No folder equals no cog to create the boolean :-( So I failed at the last step :-( How do I boolean it without the folder ?

    Thanks very much! One question(I am still very new in this hobby): the clearance needed between the 2 pieces to be 3d printed, is the thickness you apply on the plane 3d subtool?

    • @IRSculpts
      @IRSculpts  Před 3 lety +1

      You’re very welcome. Yes, the thickness I applied is the clearance needed between the 2 pieces. I found that .002 - .003 works best for me at the 1 in scale; however you may need to adjust this number depending on the tolerance of your 3D printing machine. Hope that helps :)

    This is extremely helpful, I especially appreciate that you mention the keyboard shortcuts and what they do as you go :)
    I'm still extremely new to this, and I want to make sure I'm committed to it before I splurge on the full version- I'm working with the core version for now, is there any way something like this could work in Core?
    Thank you :) great tutorial!

    • @IRSculpts
      @IRSculpts  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you so much! Glad this was helpful for you. When working with Zbrush Core, what you can do is create your cutting tools that you plan on using. After you place your subtools that you’ll be cutting with in place, set them to subtractive. Then, with Dynamesh turned on, merge the subtool that will be cut down into the cutting tool.
      Then re-Dynamesh. If done right, it will cut your model and give you similar results as what I did here.
      Check this out from Ask Zbrush for guidance too :)

    Does the .002m thickness throw the placement off and leave a gap where it joins? Have not tried this but I'm seeing more and more video on zbrush. Might try this technique. Kind of tired of getting models that are already keyed but then you ho put it together there is gaps. I keyed one of them on mesh mix came out good no gaps.

    • @IRSculpts
      @IRSculpts  Před měsícem

      Most of the time, when you cut up a model this way, the gap should close up nicely. And this is due to the fact that the dynamic thickness helps keep the cut between the key and the slice even all the way around. .002mm is super small, so you shouldn't see much of anything.
      Hope this helps and definitely give it a try

      @@IGarrettI This is one of my preferred methods as you can really control the depth of the cut really well

    When i try to resize the cube in scale master it remains at 2.00 mm even though i told it to go to 25.4, anyone know why this is?
