My God, this brings back some memories. Remember it so well in the 70's and 80's. Gus is worth a lot of money now. Are the good ole days gone???
The legend that is Judi Spiers. Brilliant. Between her and Ian Stirling, Gus Honeybun was unmissable and surprisingly ironic.
loved gus and judi!!!
Love it. the days when TV was really cool. Thanks.
Brilliant !...used to watch this for years, as I got older I roared with laughter at the double jokes😂😂😂
This brings back memories. When it was our birthday's my brothers and I would sit and watch Gus, hoping that we would have our name read out. Even if we didn't, the nice thing was we got a personal card from Gus apologising for not reading out our card on air. My middle brother is deaf and even he would get his card read out, but on a black piece of cardboard with white writing. He was always so happy to see this on the TV screen on his birthday. This board would then be sent to him to keep. Happy memories. Thank you to Fern Britton, Ian Sterling and Judi Spiers for making Gus Honeybun such fun to watch as a child. Others tried to be like Judi, Ian and Fern but couldn't pull it off.
Ah the fabulous Judi and dear old Gus, this is real TV
Asjemenou
loved tsw. loved judi and Ian stirling. You were the best TV channel ever. The personal touch made TSW unique. wish you all could have carried on with our TV in the south West. who knows what today's tv would have been like with you still at the helm. Brilliant is what I would say.
I live in Australia these days. i was born in Plymouth, so many memories. If i win lotto i would move back
absolute classic! thank you so much for posting this!X
Judi and Fern were so funny reading out the birthdays. Happy memories.
The back of his head fell off in one episode, it was so bizarre I noted it in my diary!
You have no idea how happy you've made me - I remember this Loeki animation so well and no-one else did and said I imagined it. A million thanks - you've made my year!
These things make me upset when I now look at our country and what it's become and the rubbish we have on TV today.
@@charlesedwards4160as part of my video on the closure of Citv, I declare that ITV are suffering from MTV Syndrome!
Often read in the regional tv schedules things like ... WESTWARD as london, except..and then it would list the regional opt out programmes. The number of times i read "Gus Honeybun's Birthdays" and thaught WTF IS THAT ABOUT???. As i got older i worked out from the silly name what it might be and this clip now confirms it. As a receiver of Thames we never saw GHB(?)..(!!!!!) but from the feel of this clip, i get the DISTINCT impression that pervy, ADULT double entendres would have been common place. AM I RIGHT??. Those rabbit ears, UP'N' DOWN like that?.....well dodgy!.
takes me back..right back
The spinning hexagon, forgot about that
Judy became a serious news reporter . She still reports if she gets to interview Boris Johnson , she knows how to cope.
Nice bit of Freetime at the end there.
Omg what did I ms when I was a child we had no TV am so annoyed now that I was unable to watch guss hunny bunny Bring him back
I came here because of Josh Widdicombe, he's not wrong
Ahhh - I used to LOVE Gus Runnybum !!!
So this is where Victoria Wood got "Wally Wallaby" from? Was it just Westward/TSW and Channel (Puffin's Plaice) that did birthday parade?
It's not too hard to imagine that Westward/Channel weren't alone among the ITV franchises in doing this, but not actually sure.
Judi really got into it ! The other readers were awkward etc.
Freetime was the replacement programme for Magpie, which was cancelled earlier on in the year.
I used to love watching Magpie, with Mick and Jenny, can't remember the other guy's name. Back then you either watched Magpie or Blue Peter. For me Magpie was the better of the 2 programmes. They don't make them like they use to.
Was this before or after Susie Blake as the continuity announcer on 'Victoria Wood-As Seen on TV'?
This was about five years before.
@@tswyesterday2297 Thanks, that answers for sure where the inspiration comes from!
@@metalbearuk Not ONE comment against Westward TV, TSW or Judi Spiers......OK??
What was with Westward using Loeki The Lion from STER in the Netherlands...?
Nice that Gessink's Dollywood studios went to the extra effort to use Westward's logo for this case. Don't recall if WFLD in Chicago got such extra treatment.
Nope. They just supered their logo in the corner (and I think in some of them had their kids show voice-over talk over them).
Oh well, I suppose it was an expense Field Communications didn't want to pay extra for (if offered).
LWT
They weren’t the only non-Dutch channel to do so, Loeki idents were seen on many other channels throughout Europe as well!
So this is apparently coming back
As an exhibition in the box
hi, from america
