As long as they refuse to start selling cars that people want it's only a matter of time before they close down. Ford needs to bring back the focus, the fusion and the Taurus . I would also like to see a new version of the rear wheel drive Crown Vic with a coyote V8 in it, not a turbocharged engine. I think they would be shocked with the number of cars they would sell because people could afford them. Although they will never be as affordable as they were before they stopped making cars and started this insane direction of selling only trucks and electric vehicles. Although they are not there yet I think they are going to realize that it is the customer that drives to the demand not them.

Place your order however you want. Wait a few weeks or months and pick up directly from the manufacturers.
Cars need service, a loaner is dropped off to your house, your car gets picked up, serviced and returned.
The money wasted on dealerships can be used to create jobs for shops and the middle men who will bring you a loaner and pick up your car.

Tesla excludes the first 30% range loss due to battery degradation. Then their algorithm programs even shorten your further to offset the degradation. Even if the battery pack can be replaced under warranty, it is rebuilt on guaranteed to last what is left with the warranty. However, with the constraints mentioned above, replacing the battery might not happen and your range is screwed.

You need to read about the early automotive industry. They sold vehicles by mail order direct from the factory with repairs being done at the factory with the owner paying shipping costs both ways. The wealthy that could afford the vehicles began to complain about waiting for up to year to get their vehicle back due to the factory failing to have replacement parts in stock so had to special order what their car needed. Others never got theirs back due to the manufacturer going bankrupt after it arrived so was never notified to send someone over to take it off the property. Others tried to obtain parts from the factory so a local mechanic could fix theirs and was told that wasn't possible.

They would be much more flexible, responsive to the manufacturer, more consistent in work and treatment of customers, and less corruption and criminality. The Auto industry in the US has abandoned the entire segment of the population that comprises the poor up to the lower middle class. They are not even interested in your business anymore. They are going to the premium business model. Low sales, high profit. They think they can make more money by having fewer workers making higher profit vehicles. But the truth is going to bite them in the butt. The model cannot sustain itself. When key industries start doing this in mass, they start shrinking their own customer base. Fewer well paid people to buy their product and then they eventually have none.
