It’s unfortunate that you didn’t get to see the real REO Speedwagon. What you saw were replacements since there’s no original members left in the band. However, I’ll concede Kevin Cronin since he’s been around the longest.
Gotta give it up for a band that smiles and has fun on stage while knocking it out of the park. Kevin's energy is bar setting and his voice still has amazing range after 50 + years of performing. Hat's off.❤
It is incredible how Kevin has had his voice recover at his age. Circa 2015-2016 he was VERY weak. It's a bit treacly nowadays but it is much better than before. I'm just sad that Dave Amato has been in the band for *35 years* now and he still can't come close to Gary Richrath's level. My nickname for Dave is "Adequate" because that's as good of a "compliment" as I can give. He is still getting pushed out of "Don't Let Him Go" by the keyboard player, and it's not even that he's deferring to Neil Doughty any longer. That was a guitar song when Gary played it. (It's also bizarre that "DLHG" has been the opener for *45* years. Change it up a bit, Kev! I know you like a song where you refer to yourself as "he's hot!", but honestly.) Still, it's an excellent songbook and they execute it well enough, considering the average age is "I Do' Wanna Know". I'd be more excited to see Cheap Trick or Rick Springfield (their openers), but still impressive, even if it's not on a level with their older shows.
Up to "Tough Guys" now. Dave hits the opening well enough, but again, he doesn't get past "mid" on the solo. And Kev barely says "they're full of shit"…he used to hiss it with VENOM. I guess when you haven't been shoved in a locker and called a "faggot" since 1969 or so, it's hard to stay angry?
Not sure if you saw original lineup, but Dave is way more together than Gary R was due his addictions. This band sounds amazing and delivers the songs live better than 40 years ago. I was there, trust me.

Saw these guys for the first time at the Charlotte Coliseum in March 1985 and quite a few after. Kevin Cronin is the true road warrior that has kept the wagon rolling and touring 💪since the late 1970s
I attended their concert in Charleston, WV on 3/22/24 after this concert in Reading, PA. Their performance was still high energy, and they didn't miss a beat. Kevin's energy, guitar playing and singing was top notch. Kevin just turned 72 in October and Dave Amato just turned 71 on March 3rd, both of them are moving all around the stage. In Kevin's words "Rock and Roll Will Keep You Young Forever." I guess in their cases that may be so true. You have to give Kevin credit for keeping the band together, still touring and making things run so smoothly, so that we can all enjoy the live performances of their great music which we grew up listening to. With Neal retiring while they were in between their touring schedule last year (2023), he had to scramble to get a keyboard player to replace Neal, and with Bruce having back surgery in between this recent tour schedule, Kevin had to find a bass player as soon as he could to fill in for Bruce while he recovers from surgery. There's a lot of logistics Kevin has to handle in order to bring these shows to the fans of REO Speedwagon. The guys don't want to cancel any shows and disappoint their fans in any city on their tour schedule. I have to say that I loved the concert and had a lot of fun seeing them perform at such high energy and enthusiasm. Just having fun together on stage doing what they all love to do which is singing and playing their music. Thanks, REO Speedwagon for all of great shows (past, present and future) and thanks for sharing your craft with us all over the years and beyond. REO SPEEDWAGON "KEEP ON ROLLING."
Started going to concerts in 1979. Sure, cheap. Live sound sucked, you’d routinely get puked on. Audience fucked up, bands coked to the rafters. I’ll take the non-original lineups.
Kevin’s voice is so much better since he started working with his son’s vocal coach. Before the coach, he was using a falsetto that sounded like Elmer Fudd! He sounds great now! Keep it up KC!!!
I wish that they would play something from their latest albums. "Building the bridge" and " Find your own way home" The Bridge is actually a great album.. But they still sounds great..🇳🇴
Wow they really sounded good ! And they're playing through regular microphones and standard gear not like these other super groups that are literally playing through new technology that could make me and you sound outstanding ! Bravo thanks for posting I really enjoyed this great job REO the REAL DEAL !!!!
Yes, some people knock REO because Kevin doesn’t have the exact same voice as he did when these hits came out 40+ years ago, but he gives his all and doesn’t use any special effects or anything like that. And he really cares and still works on his singing. He’s lost a little range, but he can still put on a great show.
Filling in for Bruce, after he had to have some sort of surgery. Back I think.... But he is supposed to be back with them once he recovers. I think that's the plan, anyway. Love this Band. They've given us some great rock and roll, for a long time.
