  • In this video myself and Dean Read take on the Derwent Valley Heritage Way. Starting at what some may consider the end, we decided it made more sense for us to begin at the confluence, where the Derwent flows into the Trent. This would also mean we'd get to walk into the Peak District, so the scenery would only get better as the walk progressed.
With Dean felling a little under the weather and recovering from the dreaded lergy, we took it a little steadier than we might have normally.
I hope you enjoy this part one.

Hopefully have part 2 up this week sometime, though I haven’t started editing yet 🙈

What a wonderful Day 1, really enjoyed watching you going by so many places I know. Love the heritage side of the walk adds lots of interest as the miles pass. Really good that you finally got to sample the delights of the Strutt Arms too. With all that wonderful weather its amazing to think that only a few days later many of those places you passed through were probably under water!! I look forward to Day 2. Cheers!

It was great to do this walk, I’d nearly done it a few times this year and when Dean suggested it I thought yes let’s get it done 😁
The heritage is great on the walk alll the canals, weirs and old warehouse is great to see. We got super lucky with the weather, much better than I expected, and definitely good to get a pint in the hurt arms as well.
Some of this was definitely under water a few days later, Darley abbey park I believe was flooded for one 😁
Part 2 be up soon as well

Love the industrial heritage and the sound of water there Mark. Popular it looks on the water too. Ha, good vibes along the way at 5.54- that guy waving! Hey, there are large turf operations not 3 miles from me - I enjoy seeing the fields. As you said smooth as - as smooth as the cobbles. We haven't got any of that down here or them mammoth mills. Well, good to finally go into that pub - you see something then finally it become reality. A warning - stop nicking Deans sayings. Ha ha! Very enjoyable - all the best. Mark

Yes Dean has copyright on “glorious” 😂
I love industrial heritage, trains, canals and mills, find it all fascinating. As I probably mentioned, I’d never seen a turf farm before, seems obvious now that they be around but just never thought about it before. It was definitely good to finally see the inside of that pub after passing it countless times over the years.
      Thanks for watching Mark

@@MarkTayloroutdoors Ha ha - yeah he does. I can see why you love the heritage - it has a gritty side to it. No, them turf operations are tucked away - the one near me is. Ah, an itch finally scratched Mark. The pub looked popular too. good outing bro. A pleasure.
