    reminds me of art school, tracing paper and cutting windows to work on areas where you didn't want you oil from your hands to get on the paper. we were training in the use of gauche and making color swatches up against each other without bleeding. I've since used that for painting with casein and doing architectural details. Works.

    I imagine that when he cuts thru the drafting tape to create his mask, he's damaging the paper underneath. I don't understand how this works. He uses heavy matte board to protect, then he cuts tape right on the paper. Won't this lead to a hard line from the xacto cut?

    I'm curious about your photo references. Are these printed on your home printer or darkroom processed? Glossy?
