My then girlfriend, now wife, was a late addition to our family gathering. My aunt who was hosting Christmas panicked. Looking into the pantry she found something she didn’t need for the Christmas table and hastily wrapped it. Gf was very perplexed when he unwrapped a packet of tempura batter mix! The story is retold every Christmas 😂🤣😂🤣

For me, food is always a welcome gift lol. My parents usually just get me a bunch of chocolate and coffees and stuff nowadays and I love it.

My dad once gifted our neighbor an electrics hammer. We knew he had plugged it in when all their lights went out. It was just a hole drilled in the hammer handle with a cord jammed into it. Dad never thought that he might actually plug it in to see how it worked. My eldest sister (visiting from out of state so not familiar with her voice) called their house as a rep from the power company telling him that power outages in the area had been traced to his home and messing with the power grid was no small offense and so on. Dad raised in the wilds of Montana, Frank in the wilds of Idaho. Just two kids having fun with each other!

When covid first hit I was late getting my mom a mother's day gift and Amazon was only guaranteeing overnight shipping for necessities like food.
So I sent mom cake mix and frosting with a note "some assembly required"
I was wrapping some late Xmas gifts last Friday, I told kids to not come into the room because I was wrapping. My 7 year goes and tells everyone Mom is rapping! Lol
Everyone was at the door and I asked what's going on? They said we want to hear you rap. Lol

Best gift that made me laugh was Christmas 1988. As a joke, I put a Corvette on my wish list. After gifts were all unwrapped, I was told there one more big surprise for me, but it was outside in the driveway. Eyes wide, wondering if that dream had somehow come true, I rushed out the door. Yes! Right there, parked in the driveway was a shiny Corvette! Matchbox car! I had tears in my eyes from laughing! Best. Joke. Gift. EVER!
My ex-husband, on our first Christmas with my family, gave my father a wrapped 50 lb bag of cow manure. My Dad laughed his butt off before asking it that was what my ex thought of him. Dad had a big garden and my ex was a landscape designer. BTW it's very hard in New England to find bagged cow manure around Christmas but the garden center guys came through. When they found out WHY he needed 50 lb of it, they howled with laughter. I'm sure the rest of the bags were bought by them as gag gifts...LOL. Please feel free to use this gift idea.
My sister loves black olives. Many years ago I wrapped up 4 cans and gave them to her for Christmas. She was so happy.

I would be overjoyed with that “just pizza”!
In Scotland we have this traditional candy called tablet. It's a bit like fudge but rather than being smooth and soft, it's really crumbly and breaks into chunks quite easily. Anyway my dad bought my stepmum a tablet for Christmas and roped me in to find a bar of tablet. He took the gadget out of its packaging and put the candy in instead.
Still gave her the actual gift but only after he got a laugh out of her getting excited and then seeing the 'present' inside. tbh he needs one of those "the real heroes" t-shirts sometimes XD

@@Unknown17 They were desperate people. Most indebted to loan sharks with their time running out. Main character would have his kidney's taken by the end of the month and his mother urgently needed lifesaving treatment. At least with the games, he'd have a chance.
Also, although it ended in a single winner, that wasn't the aim. There could be multiple winners and the prize would be split. The last game was designed as a team game, not a one on one.

My husband got a bottle of high-end tequila that he welded into a cage, like the one in this video, as a white elephant gift. This was 18 years ago and the recipient of the gift still has it on display in their home. He’s done it several times since. Always good for a laugh.
