Why do you pronounce "lineage" as Line-age instead of Lin-E-Aggh?
Everyone has auras and chakras so they're not "new age" stuff. They're energetic anatomy. Reiki is energy healing, so there's nothing odd, at least to me, about talking about them in a Reiki class. So what if the Japanese don't know about such things? It's like saying that an MD who's also a Reiki master shouldn't be talking about physical anatomy to his students just because the Japanese don't talk about it. Wherever you go, there you will find physical and energetic anatomy for all living beings. I don't care if the Japanese don't know about them. I do, and they're good to teach.
Also, William Rand's Holy Fire Reiki IS is a new energy. It's a Reiki-like energy that has some aspects that Reiki doesn't have. And in many ways, Holy Fire IS better than Usui Reiki. It's easier to teach and pass on. It's more flexible and purer because the Reiki installs itself rather than coming through the teacher. So, it's not as if all Reiki is, in fact, the same.
And finally, I don't understand this obsession by people about the Reiki precepts. First, they're not original. Usui borrowed them. So, it's not as if they were divinely inspired by his experience on Kurama. And while I think they're good advice, in general, there's lots of good philosophies of life out there, floating about, and I don't see any inherent virtue in reciting them or meditating on them as if you'll become enlightened just from some good advice.
