Yes, it's a technique. Maybe you remember some great books you may have read, the 1st person is often times dumb and lost, but there is this old figure, that is wise and has some answers. It gives the reader the interesting choice of putting himself as also the 1st person, recognizing perhaps his own doubts and 'flaws', or stay away and call the character the dumb one.
What an amazing relationship they have, but also what an amazing scene. The more you look at it and break it down the more amazing those 160 seconds become.
Brilliantly scripted, brilliantly cast and brilliantly acted. Anyone who didn't take something good/positive away from this series needs help!. Certainly helped me, mindyou also made me cry and laugh!. Onya Ricky!.
This part really made me almost cry but what broke me more was when the new girl was wishing for Tony to be happy and saying all good things about him that really made me emotional it seems like the things I need to hear tbh
Another great quote is something like....'Not everyone is an asshole, some people are nice... the problem is that the assholes pretend to be nice... but they are not. They pretend to care, but they don't' - This scene and the one above basically describe why things are so difficult in life.
Let me get this straight, in a previous clip she is claiming that she doesn't believe in God, right? Ok, well if that is what she believes, how can she legitimately claim to know what a good person does? She said a good person helps people, well if God doesn't exist, then that is merely her opinion, as there can be no objective good if there is nothing above us humans determining what good is. In this case, she contradicts herself or is at the least is saying a bunch of emotional rubbish. No human has the authority to define what good is or what a good person is, just like a football player doesn't have the authority to change the rules in the middle of his football game, the people who own football do. Besides that, could you please elaborately support your statement, as I do fullt understand why you say that?

What's stopping YOU. She never mentioned the government. Don't expect them to do anything. As she has said before, all we've got is EACH OTHER and WE have to help each other. Forget some careerist, power hungry wanker in a suit. It's US.
"Happiness is amazing. It's so amazing it doesn't matter if it's yours or not." Great words!
Words to live by.
Sounds simple yet so difficult, the pain always sticks around.
I’ve seen this before but never HEARD this line properly. I understand it now.
Without a doubt......the best written series i have ever seen......i love their chats.
"Mind you, if I was 20 years younger I think I could do better" Absolutely brilliant !!
Love it! So funny.
It is nice how he gives her the best lines.

@@brunesi Thank you. Do you know of a book that lists such techniques?
Penelope Wilton is a fabulous actress. Brilliant in this scene...

Solely the most mind-enlightening scene and my fav in the series
That was my favorite interaction of the entire show so far...some enlightenment.
Brilliant piece of writing and acting!
This is what got me through my sons death...every day i thought about suicide...i knew the exact when, and where....this....this is exactly it....
Life or death same for everyone. I thought everything when my girlfriend died. Still struggling day to day. But life goes on.
@@ssukhman im so sorry for your loss

A different type of show altogether but I am going to say the BEST show EVER since Fawlty Towers.
Hearing Hammock's music in this show was an extra pleasant surprise. Fits the ethos so well!
Same here. Didn't expect it and loved it.
The last time a Barbara was in a graveyard, a zombie apocalypse broke out.
Penelope Wilton is a great actress and she was hot when she was younger
I did not expect to hear Hammock in this. What an amazing surprise!
2 and a half minutes so profound than all of the old and the New Testaments.

I related to this scene so much...
Downton Abbey mom.
This some Buddha level enlightenment
Lol I know the society grows great line from his podcasts with Karl pilkington
2:07 - 2:12 They could've left that shite out for less cost, and they made it anyway...
Ever decreasing circles
With the late, great Richard Briers.
She was a corker

No. She's an angel.
@@ZeroBudgetHollywood No cause she starts seeing that other older guy later on.
..when old men plant trees for shade they will never sit in...if only governments did this.
