Did you know.... My daughter is gluten free because of medical issues. She found out that sourdough bread (the "real" kind, not the cheap kind that is in some stores), is considered gluten free, even if you use white flour? The sourdough starter does something to the gluten in the flour to make it inactive. My daughter can eat sourdough bread without any issues! Of course, do your own research and test only if you are able. I'm just putting this out there for information.

We’ve had a composite deck for 10 years and love it! We live in Calgary Alberta Canada where our temperature can swing from ~35°Celsius to +30°. I don’t find ours to be hot and it is in a west facing yard. I love that it is basically no maintenance and we do walk on it multiple times a day as we have a rear garage. I know it’s expensive but you will not regret it.

Our house has a maintenance free deck and it’s amazing. I love that we just power wash it and then we’re done. 😊 also, my family drove to IN from MN to watch the eclipse. It was a gorgeous day and I can’t wait to see your video. We were so jealous of those that could watch from home. 😊

Thanks for sharing your sourdough recipes. I've been baking sourdough since last March and appreciate the recipes.
You can make the barstools taller. Just cut some round disks, stack them til it's the height you want, put them together one by one affixing the top one to the chair first then each after that (glue them together) then put the legs back on and use some thick edge banding to iron on around the edges and stain to match or even paint it black. It wouldn't be hard to do. They are super cute chairs. You can even put some cushioning on the arms to make them taller in black leather or vinyl.
I am in healthcare and my version of a Stool Sample and yours are much different, couldn’t help myself I got a good chuckle .
We got Fiberon last year and love it! It’s not too bad to install on your own. He and I did it together over a few weeks. They are lying. It does get hot so go on the lighter color side!

Look into TimberTech pvc decking material. It is so much cooler than the trex in terms of it won’t be hot to walk on. We just replaced ours with timbertech and it was a great choice. The price is comparable but don’t need to add any additional rugs to cool it down.
No matter what season, your back yard with the lake view is absolutely beautiful. But, personally, hate Spring because it leads into the dreaded hot Summer. Already yearning for Fall...the best Season of them all. Enjoy your vlogs.

We have a Trex deck and it is well worth the expense. We did a two tone design which looks great. You won’t be sorry.

My parents got trex when I was a kid and the one thing that we experienced is that our deck got mossy. like not full moss growing but a green sludge stain. Easy to clean with deck shampoo and a brush but a pain.
Yes! Go with Trex! We also had a wood deck and it was just falling apart. We went with Trex and we never looked back! :)

Stool sampling🤣🤣🤣. We also live in the path of totality and it was one of the most wonderful things I have ever seen was so surprised how awesome it was!
I have 2 Trek porches. I live in the south where it rarely freezes and never snows. Once when we did have some ice on the porch I found it very slippery but maybe that is with any material. I also walk very carefully on it when it rains. It definitely show dirt/stains so you will have to clean it regularly. Having said all of that, it is certainly better having to constantly replace and maintain wood decking.

This was a fabulous vlog, i love the new set for your outside deck. We need to start looking for one too, last year we had no luck everything was glass top which we don't want anymore. Your home is beautiful, love where you are located in front of a body of water. We were in the line for the eclipse as well here in Ontario Canada, it was incredible, i can't wait to see you footage on it.

I grew up with a wood deck at my parent’s home and listened to them complain about it for years. When we moved to our house, 17 years ago, the first thing we did was tear off the wood deck & replace it with pavers & no regrets.

My parents just got a trex deck after having a falling apart wooden deck. it’s the best thing EVER! You won’t regret it

West elm has some very comfy bar stools, but they’re expensive. Def worth it if you want to keep them for awhile. Their styles are similar to the ones you showed in this video 😊

We bought an old home last year and we have a wood deck that is years past unsafe. Our Trex deck is going in this summer. Do it.

Curious if you’d mind sharing a rough range on how much you guys paid for your built in fire pit? My husband and I are getting quotes. We are asking for Marshall’s finishes (as opposed to Walmart or Nordstrom) and they are coming in at $13-15,000. That’s seems crazy high to us, and we are in WV.
I should add, the quotes are for a wood burning fire pit, not gas.
