- Located in the Pelham Valley in Grundy County, Tennessee Wonder Cave is Tennessee's second oldest show cave. It operated as a show cave from 1897 until 2000 when it was closed to the public and cavers.
In 2014 it was mapped completely for the first time by Jason Hardy & Kelly Smallwood. Watch along as Kelly goes over the history and exploration of this now-closed commercial cave.

More to come on our dye trace project!
Excellent work!
Thank you!
Lost for Words on this post. Amazing!
Thank you Paul. Wonder Cave was such a special project for us.
You guys are awesomeness! 👏
Thank you 😊
I remember going there on a tourist trip long long ago , probably during the last few years they were still operating the cave .
It is a shame they closed down the operation and left it to join the ranks of former tour caves .
Wow 👌 those sketches...

Our kindergarten class went there back in the day. What is odd about this is, I was just taking pics of barns in the area that still have "See Wonder Cave" painted on them a couple days ago. There are 2 that I have found. I hate that it closed.
It's definitely a treasure for sure. Would love to know where the barns were that you saw. You can message me thru my blog at www.tagcaver.com
@@tag_caver I messaged you.
Solution Rift, I havent heard that name in a while. Ive been in it but never did the pulldown. You knew Charlie Smith? Spent quite a bit of time in Hermit Cave on his property and camped in his field.
Oh yes, we knew Charlie and still know his kids (Leann & Roy). We still do some caving over there on their property too, they are wonderful landowners and very caver friendly. Hermit is a fun one we will do on weeknights sometimes after work.
@@tag_caver we were doing Hermit about the time they found the extension off the end of the big room. Has anything new been found there since?
