- A full guide to the Festiva Clutch Change! We will be showing how to pull the axles & drop the transmission from below!
Be sure to check out the Engine Removal Guide and Transmission Filling Guide videos we already made! They are a great reference for the sections where we will be working in the engine bay.

• Festiva Engine Removal...
Make sure to replace your Crossmember, Swaybar, and Shifter Bushings from TheFestivaStore.com!
We highly recommend only using the Exedy 07068 Clutch kit for a Festiva.
Also be sure to get a pair of 2007N Seals for the axles!

Much anticipated how to video for a lot of members!! Thank you, your cameraman and anyone else who helped in this video!!!
Michelle acted as a fantastic Camera Operator, and it was Jordan Babb's car, so he helped throughout
Ty for your content 🎉
I'm the guy needing a good head gasket video. Trying to do my 93 L Festiva
Whoa! Sweet XR100! I didn't know you rode.
That's Jordan Babb's, we did all the work at his place. Two wheels is one wheel too few for me.
Well, I got started replacing the clutch on my 88’ today. I managed to complete the disassembly. I’d be lying if I said it was fun. The dang strut-knuckle bolts were a major pain! I had to use a lot of heat and still twisted one off. I also had time to repair my core support, it was rusted out bad.
Glad you were able to get it out still!
TheFestivaStore has brand new OEM strut to knuckle bolts available now by the way, new item for this month

Update: reassembly went smooth! Thanks for the video, it definitely helped me out. I think the only thing I did different was removing that plastic air-dam piece that kinda wraps up over the left hand axle, it gave me a little more room to get the transmission in/out.
I do have another question for you… I noticed you have the coolant bypass pipe on the FestivaStore. Does that work on all years? If I’m not mistaken, my 1988 only has 1 nipple on it but your photo shows 2 nipples. Can the 2nd nipple be blocked off to work on my car?
@@gregg7761 Yep, you can block off the extra
Great job. Keep the content coming!
A two day job. I might get a Festiva anyway though.
I've done it in 3 hours when the axles play nicely
Buenas cómo están no tendrán video de electricidad
Let's hope the input shaft bearing doesn't pop soon and make you redo that whole show!
It felt good after it finally went in, but it's Jordan's problem now 😅
This should be just about the same process on a ford aspire too right?
Yes, just about the same for any Mazda B series. Larger engines are sometimes best done from Above.
When’s the next podcast?!??!
Wednesday!
Can i leave just the cv axle bell in transmission and later when tran is out, remove that cv axle bell? Should be easier with more room to work with prybar
I mentioned that in the video, you can leave it in, it just makes it harder to remove.
If you pull the CV out of the cup, you'll have plenty of room, but you'll have the extra work to regrease and assemble the axle. Basically just comes down to what part you want to do extra work on
Ok thanks. I already bought new axles so I just replace old ones. I hope this will solve the car vibrations when going around 110km/h
I followed your tutorial, replaced clutch, put everything together without problems, refilled trans with new oil. Then I started car and realized i cant put any gear. When engine is off gears works fine. Any ideas? Clutch pedal works a little bit smoother as previous and I can feel that small resistance aka disengagement height. I made sure that clutch plate is oriented correctly. New clutch is a valeo clutch because exedy is not available in Europe. I noticed clutch plate friction surface is thicker about 1mm on each side. Maybe clutch cable have to adjusted?
Should I use blue loctite or blue RTV on the flywheel to crankshaft bolts? Does the flywheel need to be cloaked at a certain position relative to the crankshaft?
Blue lock tite. And the flywheel doesn't need to be clocked for the Festiva, it is not a balanced assembly, the parts are individually balanced.
@@SametIndustries Thanks man!
Why go to the trouble of pulling the axles? This can be done more simply to drop the Trans with axles free of the spindles but still attached to the trans. Its a bit of a balancing act but significantly less work & stress if/n they dont want to come out.
I mentioned that in the Vid, it's definitely possible (especially if you have lift access) but the axles can be annoying to fight. You also need to remove the exhaust downpipe, which can be a battle of its own on rusty cars.
This is also a great opportunity to replace the axle seals on the trans.
