What i find is that most people don’t fish light enough. Long Light- ultralight rod 1000-2500 size reel with 6-8lb braid and long 10-15lb leader with small lures like. The 1/16oz vudu shrimp, live shrimp, or small paddletails on 1/8oz jighead. Fish slow and you’ll get them

In general people really oversize their gear in saltwater.
God help you if you make a post about getting a 2wt fly rod for saltwater like I did. Way too many people thinking a good size speckled trout fights hard enough to be a real challenge on it.

I use a phenix 9’ one piece 1-7lb and a stella 1000 with 6lb braid with my drag set to 1.7lbs and 6ft of leader. If you position yourself correctly to see far into the water you can get a cast in before they see you and with that light line you can lead them 30+ft with a small lure.

@@Ninj_SRG my main livebait setup is a 9ft custom ultralight made from a fly rod blank, Daiwa saltist 2500 and 8lb braid. Absolutely love it.
Got an Old18 buoyancy BFS rod I’ll pair with a Calcutta conquest BFS, and it will probably be my second main rod yo pair with my legend xtreme inshore with my Stella 4000.

@@fantomphoenix6170 hell yeah you should try the phenix dragonfly i sold my legend elite to get a second one. It’s the only rod of it’s kind in the US market (dfx-901, and dmx801 coming in the mail tomorrow)

People always laugh at me using 2000 and 2500 spinning reels and 80 series baitcasters for inshore , but it works well. I can throw more baits without being tired. Never been spooled either.

I like how he explains his thought process and show the days that its tough. Fishing isn't always non-stop action like most fishing shows try to show you. Personally atleast i'd rather learn than just watch somebody catch fish
