To be honest this food looks very well made like by the same day and tasty while healthy, and not frozen for days like in American schools and taste terrible (hence I haven't ate lunch in school for 2-3 years only on sub sandwhich)
I loved Korean cafeteria food. Everything always felt healthy. You have some funky dishes though. That special rice with kochujang sauce looked good. Loved the soups too. Lunch was my big meal of the day.
+Red Dragon Diaries Do they ever have any desserts? I am from Russia. Our lunches were very hearty and healthy also. Thick slabs of fresh black bread baked fresh daily with creamy salted butter from a local dairy, cabbage mixed with pork or beets or whatever I guess for a "salad", some type of meat or meat pie, potatoes often very yummy though, fresh cheese from local dairy and all the fresh cold foamy milk a kid like me could drink. I was wondering about desserts though because once a week we always got something yummy baked by the school cooks and it was my favorite. where I lived was pretty rural however. this food looks amazing to me also. I am not in US my brother goes to public school though, ive eaten the lunches when I visit him. ..its all junk food! ive never seen fresh anything. is this normal for all us children's food?
This made me incredibly hungry and I've never even tried any of it before, not even kimchi. It all looks so good (except the gelatin stuff...I can't stomach gelatin type foods). If schools in the US fed us like this I would eat it everyday.
In most part of Korea school lunches in public school are free. So you don't have to buy lunch. But he said his school is Busan, a rather conservative region so I guess it's not free there. (Korean right wing is bit like American right wing - They are anti Socialism and therefore against free lunch programs in school)
Sweet1002 AJ Sometimes I do not want to eat because my food is too healthy. I want pepperoni pizza and I want hamburger. So, there are many students who do not eat lunch. and they buy othertings. I'm korean student
I noticed that there was no bread to dip in the soup (like we always do) good job. Even Native Americans love their starches. Wish our schools had wholesome foods like this. I also saw a Japanese video where they have their own garden and they use that for school lunches. As modernized as Americans are, they need to take a lesson from others. Teaching kids to grow their own food and making healthy meals would be a start. Invest and progress. I love this video.
+Wandrative Quite impressive, in France we have a lunch at school that is pretty unhealthy usually (pasta/fries/meat/fish/salad/yogurt/fruit, full of sauces, cream...) and we have to pay for that. So different from Korea, I would even pay to have what they are eating because it looks so good but also so healthy ! You can probably focus more on the afternoon after eating that than after eating a French school lunch...
Aucun Aucun In France?! That is unexpected. France has the best food in Europe - and I thought people were serious about food! It is still probably so much better then school lunch in North America, Britain and Germany. And (pasta/fries/meat/fish/salad/yogurt/fruit, sauces, cream...) looks nice though.
I am a teacher here in the States, and I wish we had food such as this to serve the kids. Our cafeteria does the best that it can, but a huge portion of what we serve is heavily processed. It's not a one-sided affair either. The kids will often throw away the fruits and vegetables that the schools are legally required to put on their plates. Then again, ever since the health initiatives came down and took away virtually all seasonings, I can sort of understand why. I've brought my lunch every day for 8 years. If I forget, I don't eat. Unfortunately, I have to leave the kimchi at home b/c of the strong smell, but I do try and bring a lot of milder banchan. Gotta sneak in that K-comfort food whenever I can.
+Eric Lee lots of crazy americans protested when she tried to switch simple so called "healthy" food. If we give her a free reign she would have done it that way! It's sad that US made everything political and doesn't give a damn about kids' health. "They" even hated her on her campaign to make kids exercise! Go figure!
+slowtrtl That's because the Government is in with the pharmaceutical companies. They need us fat, sick, and reliant on them...We just keep forking over the money, eating, and dying a slow and painful death.
Im in hospital after a tonsillectomy and cant eat food, why on earth did i watch this video! Food looks amazing, wish i could have some of those soups! Very jealous, nice video!
I am a 37 years old woman. When I was a child, South Korea had a school lunch like that. I am missing that time. Sometimes it is better than the food I make now.
OMG! We watched this as a family before I saw your 22 things to do in Japan vlog and we all thought this video was awesome! Again, your video and your calm voice makes it above many on CZcams. Thoroughly enjoyed both videos.
My mouth watered looking at some of those dishes. I taught ESL in Korea for a year back in 2010 and lunch break was my favourite time of the day. Super healthy and super tasty food.
One of the many awesome things about Korea and I can't wait to teach there!(: I take Korean classes on Saturdays and even though it is just 3hrs, Lee Sunsengnim feeds us well
Wow I am korean. and I am living in Wonju now. I wish your life in my hometown will be happy for ya. If you wanna any information about my city. just let me know :) I am willing to help you :)
Wow, looks amazing! When you go back for seconds, do you have to pay the full ~$2ish dollars again? Also, do students get nearly as awesome meals as the staff/teachers get?
Hyelim Lee Wow.. these look good. I guess things are very different now. When I was in school like 35 years ago, I (we) had to bring lunch (rice and a couple of side dishes). Sometimes, we eat cold rice during winter. I am so happy to see things in Korean school (at least lunch) are getting better.
I will be teaching in SK in a few years, and I am wondering how hard it will be for me since I eat Kosher? I generally have issues in the US with pork, gelatin, and seafood (I just forgo the seafood category since it is hard to keep track of what is kosher and what is not). Thank you for your advice and awesome videos!
See at my school they serve a measly slice of pizza, or 5 small pieces of chicken with a mountain of rice in a chinese to go container, or a small chicken patty with premade buns, and always coleslaw on the side with milk. Thank goodness i have off campus lunch
I work in a Korean elementary school in Korea and although some of the sides are similar the main dishes are not as nice as your school...for example we don't have stuff like soondae guk. You are fortunate to have school lunches like that.
wow the school lunches gotten TONDRED times better since I was last in Korea (elementary school), but then again it was years ago so.. haha this made me so hungry! :]
Wow, I'm jealous! I wish Canadian school offered those type of lunches but of course they wouldn't. In my high school, they only offered beef patties, pizza (tasted nasty btw), pasta, and french fries (so much for trying to be healthy). Do all Korean school (such as elementary/middle school and high school) serve those type of lunches or it depends on the school administration?
Yes, this is generally what Korean school lunches are like. Some schools are better than others though, quality and taste-wise. I'm surprised Canada serves lunches like that. I thought it was just America that served up junk.
+Maribel Torres first, this isn't my video. second, I wasn't being rude. but I will make a rude comment. you are dumb and dumb people cannot be smart parents.
Question for you. How much time is given to eat your lunches? At my school, the kids are given 30 minutes. This includes the time spent in the lines and disposing of their trash.
The school lunches in China (at least at the schools where I taught) are great and healthy as well. Not like American School lunches, Salsberry Steak (cardboard with gravy), Pizza (cardboard with ketchup and a little cheese), or chicken nuggets (deep fried cardboard).
Joshua Bray Exactly. Though I think some schools have improved over the years, they've fallen short of providing just basic nutritious foods in many cases. I have to think this can have a bearing on students in class.
I can find "I prefer this..." in all of Asian school meal video, is American school food that bad? I kinda like the meal served in the university while I studying in Iowa.
I have no idea what the food tastes like ( I love kimchi though) but I am going to adapt to that kind of meals because they are healthy. lots of vegetables and little meat. yum.
That food looks amazing. Two questions, if you don't mind: 1, Is it spicy/hot? 2, Is this type of food typical to a school in Korea, and is it normally free or do you need to pay for it?
John Smith 1. Not spicey normally 2. Probably its free from elementary to middle school(public schools) When it comes to private and public highschool, youll have to pay like 1~2 ish dollars per meal probably I heard they started to pay for public highschool recently tho

ᑭɛтıтє ᗰaĸnae yes
I loved Korean cafeteria food. Everything always felt healthy. You have some funky dishes though. That special rice with kochujang sauce looked good. Loved the soups too. Lunch was my big meal of the day.
Definitely healthy. Especially in comparison to what is served in cafeterias back home. Yeah, some of the sides I just don't like.
Oh my gosh, I'm moving to Korea no getting away from this "chicken" my school serves.
+Red Dragon Diaries Do they ever have any desserts?
I am from Russia. Our lunches were very hearty and healthy also.

+zitaower yeah...I don't like the acorn gelatin, even with the sauce on it...
I wish American school lunch was like that… then maybe I would buy it

this is the best presentation of korean school lunches i've seen on youtube. great job!
+Chan Park thank you
that looks so amazing compared to the gross processed food in American school lunches.
And extremely high sugar meal in US.
I wish i had this meal it look good compare to the usa food plus usa food is gross
man, this looks better than the meals I eat at home
***** Me too.
I noticed that there was no bread to dip in the soup (like we always do) good job. Even Native Americans love their starches. Wish our schools had wholesome foods like this. Is it weird to say every single thing looked mouth wateringly delicious?!?!
omg!!! I'm going to need America to get it together and have lunches like this. American lunch sucks.
LisaFrank39 right?? My cheese fell of my pizza and the sauce was frozen. Dun
Riiight i need my kid to come home full from school
All the soups looked really good. This was interesting, thanks for sharing.
Wish I could have this diet!! So hard in America lol
It's not a diet style in Korea
It's the Korean traditional meal
that's it
Oh !
I got wrong
Thanks sweety :)
This is what I call a healthy diet. This is also one of the reasons I'd like to visit Korea.
Man, that brings back some memories when I taught ESL in Cheong'ju in 2002. I loved those lunches!
Thank you so much for this! I wondered how the food was in Korean public schools. Thanks for sharing!
And, if you are a student, THE GOVERNMENT PAYS for it, so everything is free.
+Wandrative Yeah. Too bad the government doesn't pay for University students though.
Damn. The government payed only half for our study in school if our parents work for the government like my mum
Kris sar I guess it depends on the province :)

Wow! Everything looks so home made and incredibly delicious.
Michelle Obama needs to watch this!!!
+Eric Lee lots of crazy americans protested when she tried to switch simple so called "healthy" food. If we give her a free reign she would have done it that way! +My_Chabooty_Craves exact same words I wanted to type.
I'm so happy I discovered your channel. The food looks incredible and I know it must taste wonderful.🍱🍜
Im in hospital after a tonsillectomy and cant eat food, why on earth did i watch this video! Food looks amazing, wish i could have some of those soups! Very jealous, nice video!
Oh wow, the meals all look soooo good! Those soups... YUM! How lucky are Korean students!!
All that sounded so good
I am a 37 years old woman. When I was a child, South Korea had a school lunch like that. I am missing that time. Sometimes it is better than the food I make now.
Great video! Love the soups & side dishes :)
Everything looks so good. Oh my goodness

Amazing amount of veggies, and everything looks tasty. Kimchi!

Ugh I would rather eat this than American school 😭😭
I love bibimbob so much, I had it for lunch for 8 months everyday.

Looks delicious! So healthy and tasty.
OH! Everything looks so good!... I shouldn't have watched this at lunch time. Mine seems so lackluster now.
Thank you for uploading. ^^ the more you know!
Not much here to know 🤔
And over here in America's corner...an assortment of processed dishes that probably are not bio-degradable.
Sevv9220 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Looks really delicious and healthy.
Hey, thanks so much for your videos. I am leaving in a few weeks to teach English in Wonju and watching your videos has been great.
Keith Hardy That's awesome. have a great time.
Wow I am korean. and I am living in Wonju now. I wish your life in my hometown will be happy for ya. If you wanna any information about my city. just let me know :) I am willing to help you :)

this looks soooooooo good
Wow, looks amazing! When you go back for seconds, do you have to pay the full ~$2ish dollars again?
Also, do students get nearly as awesome meals as the staff/teachers get?
sammyiboi students eat the same meals. No you don't have to pay extra. If there's leftover, you can just go eat it.
Very nice looking meals
Now I'm starving!Great food!
Yup....that looks exactly like my school lunch throughout my school years in Korea...

I like your video's . Please I wanna see the korean shopping . .
Kimchi. Your amused tone makes me hope your mom isn't watching.
Seeing your meals makes me cray....looks so delish.
Yeah, my school îs like that except bibimbap would be on Wednesdays along with other "treats" like curry, fried shrimp and corn dogs.
Like seriously... i love the way you say kimchi with those intonation ahhahahwh
Omg!!! So yummm
wow!

Looks delicious. Can't do pork. Thanks for your vids.
Wish i can meet you one day...red dragon diaries ..
in america we get freezer burnt chicken, and if we're lucky we get canned fruit cup along side it.
I work in a Korean elementary school in Korea and although some of the sides are similar the main dishes are not as nice as your school...for example we don't have stuff like soondae guk. You are fortunate to have school lunches like that.
Peter Chung I think I'm pretty lucky too. Not all schools are like this
wow the school lunches gotten TONDRED times better since I was last in Korea (elementary school), but then again it was years ago so.. haha this made me so hungry! :]

damn i wish my school served stuff like this when i was a kid
Lol he sounds more frustrated with the kimchi each day. Looks amazing though!
Very good wish here in Canada where like that :))
it seems that you need to pay attention in English class more than the lunch plate. ;)
Joseon It seems to me that you are a very rude person, my 9 years old daughter comment on you video. Keep doing your stupid videos peace looser.
Joseon Thanks ;)
+Maribel Torres first, this isn't my video. second, I wasn't being rude.
but I will make a rude comment. you are dumb and dumb people cannot be smart parents.
I'm so jealous!!!!!!!! I wonder why its hard to do that here in US....
compared to what i ate in school, this looks amazing!!!!
Craving for Korean food rn
my schools have different stores for different people for different taste . all the stores have good food although it cannot beat Korea schools food .
looks healthy delicious
