I’ve been to many weddings. Opening seating makes me stressed. I want to make sure I’m sitting with friends and family. I’m saving chairs, or counting to make sure we can all fit at a table. With seating charts, it takes the guest work out of it.

    • @beccag2758
      @beccag2758 Před 4 lety +9

Bruh open seating is very stressful. I'll show up early for an event to get a seat I want, and some person will save like 4+ chairs for their friends who show up late, and I'm sure that person is stressed by having to tell everyone who comes by that the chairs are taken lol

I've still just slowly starting the planning with WeddingWire and building the guest list there is cool because you can create groups some are already listed like "your family" "their family" "your friends" "their friends" etc. but you can make more too and I've willing to bet that it will help lots more when we do more planning and seating is something my fiance and I start talking about

My venue said that I don’t need to make place cards or anything like that! They have waiters that come and find each person and personally escorts them to their table and double checks their order since it’s a plated meal! So cool and I’ve never seen anyone else do it!

My cousin didn’t have a seating chart at her wedding. It wasn’t as stressful as some others are saying they’ve experienced. But I think it was a missed opportunity because our family did NOT sit with his family. Lol. We just sat with who we were most comfortable with - people we already knew. Some forced mingling is nice in my opinion.

Hard pass on the “list people by table.” It created a HORRIBLE bottleneck at my friend’s wedding. So unless you only have like 4 tables… I personally think listing names alphabetically is more efficient. I decided to place individual namecards out on a seating chart table, and have guests take their namecard WITH them when they went. That way guests behind them found their names from a shrinking pool of namecards, which made the process faster and faster.

I agree. It's nice if the bride and groom work out seating so you sit with people you like, but I am not going to throw a fit if I sit with someone I don't like or even strongly dislike. It's just a dinner, and as long as you also sit with one of more people that you can get along with you can suck it up for a few hours.

Some ideas iff the top of my head - you can incorporate HP through color scheme - each house per table (long tables if your venue has enough room for it), seating chart - divide people in houses and add sorting hat at the top of the seating chart, decorate the ceiling to resemble Hogwarts, serve butter beer (or potion signature coctails), train ticket 3/4 wedding invitations...You don't need to overwhelm all the guests, but true HP fans will notice the details :)

Would you be able to do a video on dry wedding tips? Or maybe why or why not to do a dry wedding?

Hi! Any tips on how to plan a wedding in four months? Not the ideal situation but something we are going to do. I don't want it to feel like a thrown together wedding.

Hi Jamie! I love your videos! Can you make a video about bridal showers? I know as a coordinator you probably don't work them, but my shower planning isn't going smooth. What was it like planning yours? How involved were you?

Thanks I was wondering about being a few odd people at certain tables, because of just the amount of people, I didn’t want to have an extra table for like 3 people🙄

From my experience I would go assigned seats. My parents once got stuck at a table with two feuding families and they had to sit at opposite ends of the table because the families wouldn't sit near eachother.

Also, make sure to find out from your venue how many people at maximum can fit at each table! At my venue we could fit 12 at a table but at my sister’s venue the max was 10

Are guest more likely to forget their table number with a seating chart over escort cards?

To chart or not to chart...that is still the question...i feel like i want a combo, where some of its assigned especially when it comes to my elders in my family...while also making it to where people can mostly sit with who they like

I was wondering if you had suggestions on wedding planners in the Chicago area, more specifically in the Hoffman Estates and Niles area. Thank you 😊

Any tips on if you're doing harvest tables? I can't tell if that would be easier or more difficult to plan for

Jamie how about a brunch wedding related video?

Can you give advice about making a digital space for all this info? I think it would be cool to have a website that has ALL the info prior to the wedding. (hotels, photos, seating charts, menu, rsvp). That way everyone has their information beforehand. Has anyone tried this?

Yes, I did wedding website, and added the link and QR code to the back of the invitation, it's unnoticeable and doesn't ruin the design in the front.

I went to a wedding with open seating and we grabbed the only seats available by the time we got up from the cocktail hour. Turns out it was right next to my ex and (who I was not on great terms with) and his new gf. My fiancé was not thrilled, made for a very awkward night 😂
