That is a gorgeous bike. I love that Kona is still building those old style mountain bikes with no suspension. This is perfect for a lot of riders who never take their mountain bikes downhill and who only ride recreationally. The frame is beautiful and the color is really unique. Much more beautiful than most bikes nowadys who often come in black or grey. Reminds me of the mountain bikes from the 90s.
I still own a beautiful 1995 Trek 950 Singletrack and will rebuild it soon.

ive got the single speed version of this, i really like it so far, however i wish the gear ratio was alittle bit lower from the factory because i would rather have more top speed.

thinkng about chopping the bars down an inch or so as well

nice. i keep on going back and forth about switching to single speed. the previous owner provided a Surly 22t gog for the back, so that would give lower gearing than stock and make it easier to climb. i think you're looking for higher gearing to get more top speed - so you can go up in the front or down in the back. Problem with front is that you need a special tool to remove the ring, so that's partially holding me back, too. going narrower on the bars and having the sweep have helped a lot with comfort for me. higher rise stem also helped a lot as it unloaded my hands quite a bit.

@@omgbikes yeah, I have more experience with cassette hubs on the back than I do with the new styles of bottom brackets and chain rings, since I came from a bmx background. I have a 16t cog and I feel that it is like a balance between climbing and a nice cruising speed. 22t would be maybe too much? I'm not sure but thanks for the info friend

Would you buy this or the bridge club again?

i liked the bride club, but it may be a little expensive for what it is. i've been enjoying the kona, and no desire to go back at the moment. you do have to keep in mind that the unit is single speed, though

Did you sell the Bridge Club? If not, how would this fit into the rotation?

Yes, sold the bridge club and small sizes are not available, so purchased this in the meantime. Curious about a single speed ‘mountain’ bike, so will be converting this back to SS soon.
