They never killed Jesus. The matter of the fact that Jesus was praying, sweating and begging God to save him from his enemies in Matthew 26:39 and Luke 22:44, clearly shows he never wanted to die, and God heard his prayers and saved him as prophesied in the full Pslam 91 chapter and the following verses:
Pslam 91:10-16. Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place-
the Most High, who is my refuge-
10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.

Pslam 18:3. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

I would be interested if there is any evidence of idol worship in Mecca after 400 AD/CE. I did find a lot of evidence of historical artifacts of many different idols in Mecca prior to 400 AD/CE. I didn’t find any irrefutable evidence that the Arabic region was uniformly monotheistic two centuries prior to the adoption of the Islamic faith.
