    - 3rd on the ladder
    - Beat Sydney at the SCG without Pearce & Cox
    - Arguably deserved to beat Carlton before they changed their ball movement

Didn't kick enough goals to beat Carlton, probably won 3 quarters but didn't put the score on the board, Carlton lit up for one quarter and overran you. I am happy to give you the English "moral victory."

Cottrells mark would have been paid 99% of the time. The Umpires were ordinary all day both ways. With the amount of ball Freo had they should have been 5 goals up, you can only play keepings off for so long.

The reverse side of the uncontested marks for the Swans is the fact that our pressure and tackle numbers were so low - its a bit chicken and egg, but when our pressure is up, teams *can't* take as many uncontested marks. That being said, while these losses were very immature, they probably point out just how strong the Swans are.

I honestly think Fremantle will break through and win their first this year. They’re proving more each week that they can put on a score to compliment their incredible defensive game plus they have the pressure game as well that is required in finals. I think they’re still $13 with some markets which is great value.

not sure what Hodgey means by Essendon people not being convinced yet.. convinced of what? would have thought most Essendon people are realistic in terms of expectations - improvement on last year, several players improving as the season rolls on, improving in terms of executing the game plan including defence, potentially qualifying for the finals which we havent done for a couple of years, & if so, giving a good account of ourselves in the finals with competitive effort no matter who we come up against. If we can achieve most of that, think the year is a success & in line with Scott's expectations - as Scott continually says, we are not the finished product yet
