@@UnparalleledUniverse No, he's most certainly based on the Monkey King. Son Wukong is his name. Dragon Ball was based on Journey to the West, and Goku is analogous to Son Wukong in many ways.

Nura is wearing a Mino...a traditional japanese rain coat made from rush grass, same with his hat or ronin-gasa, love that they added these accessories...its what 1st drew me to this set 👍
When this first went up for preorder I could not resist--3 incredible looking figures with soft goods, tons of accessories, AND based on Asian lore/aesthetics. My only worry was the fact it was a preorder and I wasn't sure when it would be released, but getting it in hand and playing with the figures made me a believer in NottaToys quality.
Man, I love this Wukong. He’s so much fun to play around with. It’s such a great version of this character.

I think I'll have to get on that deluxe 3-pack after the new year. When you first mentioned these, I thought I was just gonna get Wukong (I'm a fan of The Monkey King character and legend) but after seeing you review I want them all. I'm glad you got the review up. The necklace depicts the Bagua or eight trigrams representing the variations of the states of Yin and Yang. Those trigrams are squared to form the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching. Dope review brother I’m gonna cop the set.
Wow, been waiting over a year or so for these figures to come out! Didn't know they put it all in a 3 pack. Must be pricey. This is how action figures should be, comes with lots of accessories, detailed, articulated, just great overall.

The "necklace" on Yan is called a bagua (in Mandarin) or an Eight-Trigrams mirror (the centerpiece is usually a mirror) that Chinese people may sometimes hang above their doorway to ward off evil spirits, and yup his drink bottle is a hollowed-out calabash.
Time to unpack Wukong then! I wasn't sure whether I want him enough to not just sell him, but clearly I do. :D
