ARANETA Center is breathing new life into its Quezon City flagship project, relaunching it as ARANETA CITY.
Araneta City recently introduced a new brand, logo and tag line.
“We wanted to say and describe what Araneta Center is now. For all intents and purposes, it is a city. We have residences, offices, entertainment, dining, and shopping. We have excellent transport connectivity, we’re in the middle most of everything. We’re more apt to be called as a city now,” - Rowell Recinto.
Mr. Recinto said that the recent rebranding is important so the people will easily identify what Araneta City is, given the presence of other competing developments in the area.
Araneta City’s tag line is now “The City of Firsts,” referring to its introduction of first-of-its-kind developments and concepts in the country.
For instance, Ali Mall was the country’s first major shopping mall; the Araneta Bus Station was the first integrated bus terminal serving several bus companies; and Ticketnet, which is the first online ticketing system. Other “firsts” include the Oasis - the first indoor, open-air, air-conditioned floating garden restaurant; and the Platinum Cinema - the first Lazy-Boy movie theater.

31:17 - naiiyak po ako... ang lake ng pinagbago ng farmers pero nakita ko pa rin ung bilog bilog sa flooring.. naaalala ko pa yan nung 90s andyan na yan, lumulundag pa ko noon nung bata (1991).. i could also remember that area nung teenager ako (around 2002) diyan din ako brineak ng ex ko, also eto ung area na nilalakaran ko papuntang Araneta Colisueam (now Smart Araneta) to watch UAAP basketball, batch pa nila Wesley Gonzales at LA Tenorio pa noon that time.. i could still reminisce my grandparents were still alive back then.. haaaaayy... naluluha lang ako kasi ang saya noon... ngayon pinapanood ko na ung pagbabago diyan sa pinas and it really breaks my heart that i could still remember my loved ones who were still alive during those times... sadyang napaka bilis ng panahon at napaka iksi ng ating buhay...

Beautiful city. The Mayor should start fixing the road and repaint using waterproof paint on pedestrian lanes. And the city will be more beautiful. She should have like city planner checker to inspect all the roads that needs fixing.

This place holds so much memories, especially for me. Since 1996-2009, eto yung lugar na lagi kong pinpuntahan lalo na pag malapit na xmas. Iba yung feels lalo na when they put up all xmas decorations. Back then as a child, ramdam na ramdam mo yung kapaskuhan. Nakakatuwa lang how a video like this can give you such joy in remebering your childhood, how simple yet satisfying our lives were. Thank you sa content na ganito.

Good to see there are plenty of trees/plants or flowers being planted everywhere. A smell of nature is no longer a challenge to experience in the middle of the highly urbanized places like Quezon City.

Yeah, my paternal granddad came to work @ the sugar cane plantation in Waipahu, Hawaii around 1900. He misspelled his surname. He gave his last name as "Aranita" as it should be "Araneta." It is nice to know that my relatives in the Philippines are influential and wealthy.

I lived here from 2009-2014, moved from Naga, Cam Sur now in Canada. I visited again in 2019, missed this place, I could walk around the area to get what I need and take the LRT or MRT if I needed to go to school or bigger malls. Missed the atmosphere and saw so much has changed in 5 years in response development and construction, seemed to change for the better
Weird coincidence haha, I grew up in Bicol, and we moved to QC, in Camp Aguinaldo back in 2005 then settled back here in Naga City after 7 yrs. Hahaha was almost in tears kasi this is where our family, friends and classmates go to during the day to “pasyal”. Tapos ang galing lang na may similar din experience namin kaya bigla akong natuwa. Thanks too sa channel for doing this, this is one of the cities na tahimik and peaceful. Andami ng changes pero yung jabi, mcdo, DQ sa entrance ng AliMall, tas JCo lahat andito pa. 🥺🥺🥺
I was born and grew up in Old Sta Mesa, Manila. When I went home as Balikbayan, we stayed in Araneta Ave, closed by SM Sta Mesa CenterPoint. Then we would walk around Aurora Blvd to Cubao everywhere, AliMall, Gateway Mall, and farther and farther just browsing and sightseeing around the Coliseum. Malaking pinagbago, very big improvements, clean, more lights, and of course looks brighter and richer, classy, wider and more spaces to walk around. and more organized. Beautiful.! I miss the place, 😂😂😂. I lived one year in Quezon City before coming to California, USA 🇺🇸. I was a big lawatchera myself.

i guess the Metro Manila is worth revisiting, mainly to film for a vlog. This is a nice reminder of how Quebao can be charming. Still, I remember how those buses release too much toxic fumes.

I've noticed that for almost all these daytime walking tours there is always some guy on the street that lifts up his shirt, wipes his face and exposes his nice round beer belly to cool it off. Can you spot it on this post and the other videos? Must be a Filipino thing. Good job as always for those of us who can't be there as we remember these places 30 to 50 years ago and they look amazing now. Thank you for sharing this.

So good to see the Isetann tower again. This was where Pizza Hut (PPI Inc.) held their HR Office back then. Not sure if it still is but back in 2011, it was. Applicants were supposed to come at daybreak in full corporate attire, fully groomed to the nails and ears. Screening begins with the security guard by the entrance, then another again upstairs. The lady who would interview and screen us for Team Member positions was very keen and strict like it was a modeling agency. :) I was very lucky I passed and got hired!
Been to Cubao-Araneta for gigs and drinks many times. I love Cubao Expo the most!

I'm also watching Walking Tour videos from other countries. Ibang iba talaga ang texture and visuals ng cities natin noh? Also, our major cities/hubs like Cubao looks and feels less vibrant talaga now, unlike in some walking tour videos sa ibang cities where the streets are still bustling with activity / life despite the pandemic even late at night since people can go out freely without restrictions like age limit and curfews.
Quezon City is so massive that making Araneta a city can decentralize the governance making it more effective in the long run. They should do more of this divided cities. Thank you for the pasyal.
Actually, Quezon City is Polycentric Decentralized Transit-Oriented City which spreads out it's developments in all parts of it's territory especially those boundaries bordering it's neighboring Cities. Most of it's developments are found in it's major arteries like EDSA, and across it's Commercial and Industrial Centers.

tweet: Cubao or Araneta Area needs to take-down the old electrical wires. Mag order na lang ng portable street lights -- affordable ang modern city street lights; hendi masyadong mahal. Kong mag ayos ng mga gosali, ayusin right the first time you repair all of the entire area. That's the way to improve the city appearance at para hendi na ba-lik-ba-lik ang work-crew. Maraming Kolang-Kolang. Bakit walang traffic **white mark** ang mga roads? Look at the cemented floor/sahig walang gohit for moving cars? God speed. sep2021.

What used to be Cubao's foremost landmark, Araneta Coliseum now can hardly be seen with all those high towers immediately around it

... i just remember those days na naglalakad ako jan pabalik balik dahil nag aayos ng documents.... mainit... traffic sa katipunan... traffic sa EDSA.. ang hirap makasakay sa MRT... makasakay ka man pagbaba mo halos deformed na mukha mo dahil sobrang siksikan. Tapos may salbahe pang pasahero, nananadya mang apak ng paa o manulak.
Pero kapag pasko at may bonus, sa SM, sa Gateway, sa Farmers ang punta, mamimili ng pangregalo. Ang masaklap yung pinagkagastosan ko, iniwan ako. Metro Manila, particular Cubao, Pasig for me is nothing but a sad and stressful memory.
Ang mga spaghetti wires dapat ilibingsa lupa. sa other ASEAN cities Wala Kang makitang mga wires na eyesore
