  • Travel with the train driver as we journey from Southern Cross station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia to the end of the line at Tocumwal, just over the border into New South Wales. The last section of the line from Shepparton is a freight only line. We start out on the Vlocity service then change trains at Shepparton to board our special heritage train hauled by two T class locomotives to complete the journey to Tocumwal. Dec. 2023

This nice long video helped me through a rather difficult night of little sleep.
I noticed many of the road crossings had standard gauge lines installed, just in case the powers that be decide to do a conversion some day. 🤔
1:06:55 I think the camera had a little case of the electronic hiccups there.😵‍💫

The weather looks just like it does out my windows right now, in London, UK! Isn't this midsummer in Australia? Fascinating glimpse of railway life. (To be fair, the sun did come and the clouds thinned out further inland).

@@driver667 I just watched your recent video from Wangaratta to Benalla, so I see what you mean. Some years back I was living in West Bengal, just a few miles north of the tropic of Cancer. Around mid-December it started getting a bit misty in the mornings. Two weeks later it was clear again and the locals told me that winter was over. Sometimes it's nice to be a passenger and just watch the world going by and it's a joy to see your part of the world. I'm still getting my head around the broad gauge/standard gauge thing. One thing that I did notice is that there is really a lot of graffiti in Melbourne and also there seemed to be a secure compound for local trains at one point, presumably to keep them clean. It's probably a sign of a deeper problem. Not sure what is is though. I see you have loads of other video to watch. Brilliant!

@@driver667 I travelled up to Yarroweh on Sunday with a friend by car ..... A few changes between Seymour and Shepparton since my last carbide there and back in a N class in 2020 ..... new Junction to Echuca at Toolamba looks promising but Dookie Line not so much ..... Sad to see Numurkah Yard gone but c'est le vie. I did travel on an X hauled Cobram Pass a few weeks before closure and a weekend your of the Goulburn Valley Lines in the mid 1990's (including Dookie)

It looks like the track speed north of Shepparton is a lot lower than when Cobram passes came though here? 70 km/h?
Fells like 80 but the road vehicles (doing 100) wouldn't be running away so fast.
