I think the best way i can explain skitzo and dancers of that ilk is that he's easier to translate or relate to a wide audience, especially non dancers. Each dance genre is its own language so not everything is directly translatable to verbal languages, which ultimately affects our perception of a performance
It's like having a japanese speaking competition with people who only learned any japanese vocab from anime as the audience.
The weab that says the most anime sounding phrases will come off as more entertaining and thereby better japanese speaker to them. Its something the audience relates to
A native level japanese speaker might have patterns, accents, vocab and expressions that are simpler and less exciting to a non speaker. It doesn't matter if its cohesive to a japanese person, they don't understand it so it won't get through to them
The only thing is that semantics are way broader in dance, so you can't easily convince a non dancer that their are higher levels

What you said about the gap between the two duos might explain the energy, not forgetting the Dj's tracks for sure : to me it seemed that Skitzo and Legit were already abandoning the idea to win cause they knew they'd have no chance against Icee and Alex.
Due to what they saw and know about these opponents, but also that Legit got served at every round in his pool, and Skitzo going more rounds to go to the final. To be quite clear, Skitzo won the crowd from the very first round of this event, and there was this umbeatable aura he had which gave him stellar rounds everytime.
Skitzo literally carried his bro for most of the event, and he might have been simply content of gaining some spotlight in the event. He was definitely the highlight of this edition and the crowd had his back throughout. Dude might have been simply content of winning the crowd and ending it here.

Question: Why do so many people favor Skitzo when there are plenty of more talented dancers?
Answer: Because of the audience. I'm not a dancer at all but I find skitzo to be entertaining to watch. It's not necessarily about the dancing only, for the wider audience. It's about the way a dancer can relate to a non dancer like myself and sell themselves and perform. Skitzo is eye catching to me because of his swagg, dance moves and charm when dancing he's relatable to us non dancer type people. He's a smart dancer/performer.
To further explain why "ticktok" dancers are more popular than the hard working, serious dancers I would say because it's about the entire package of the person dancing. The looks, the relatable party dances, entire image. That's how they cross over even though they may be destroyed in a street battle, it's not about that for the wider audience.
Same thing in music some of the best singers in the world will never be seen or heard of on the level of Beyonce. Because Beyonce is more than a singer she's the entire package. Unfortunately, it's not about the talent alone, it's about image, charisma and let's not forget that skitzo was seen many times with Les twins the kings of dance. That alone puts him at the top.

I don't get it either tbh.
He's more of an entertainer and I'm always entertained by what he does, but that's the only aspect I see of him.
I mean, eventually cats like these just fizzle out from the battle scene and move on to what they enjoy doing the most.
It's not that they can't build on what they already have, personally I just believe they don't want to, lol. They enter a few tournaments just to see what happens but I highly doubt they expect to win and of course they'll make it far just off talent alone.
Les twins I think are the only ones who were able to have succession in both battle and entertainment on a consistent basis because they were able to leave the gimmicky dances at the door when it was time to be serious, especially in their earlier years.

Seems like he studied classical dance first then he went to hip hop style.I've seen him do classical movements at a slow pace music an can appreciate him more.Where as Icee is a master..I see the street all over his moves.Alex to..when he gets warmed up.lol

I respect all your opinions, here’s how I see it. With rubix in his rounds I personally feel like he was more In the music because his movement FOR ME fitted Better with the music especially on that second round because of how abstract his movements were which complemented how abstract the songs were imo. I def would give the first round a tie as they’re improvisation were both at a very high level but in the second round i felt like rubix was more in the music than kanon and with kanons round he looked like he was trying to find something but couldn’t and his moves were at times off beat and a little rushed but then again this is just my opinion no disrespect to anyone 🙏

This was one of my first lessons in musicality, but only in hindsight. When I first saw this battle, I was riding the Skitzo wave- after finally taking the time to check him out.
He makes his musicality extremely clear, and he dances with such charisma and confidence that he just sells it. Which was why even though he did less than Icee, I thought he deserved the win. It was bias, but also within good reason.
To me at the time, Icee and Alex were both sloppy. I didn't hear what they were going for, didn't see it. It was impressive of course, but there was so much extra (what I thought was wasted movement, still do just a bit) that the interpretation was lost to me. (Funny thing; at the end of Alex and Icee's _set_ Skitzo starts bumping into his little brother, poking fun at the other two. It's a good laugh~)
Took months before I realized where my biggest mistake was. I started taking the time to listen and to understand other dancers musicality. It's a matter of individuality that has no place for bias, two different people listening to the same track, but hearing and reacting to it in their own way.
Now the judges decisions make a bit more sense to me.
Staying on topic, I think Paradox vs Alex at the Shanghai finals would be a good reaction. This was were my prejudice for the Cage first started, lol. I got over it though, cause now he's one of my favorite dancers in the game~
    Thanks again for the reaction!
