The 14 pro max is better than the s23
As a S23 ultra user, I have to say that iPhone has done some good changes to the camera!
Really curious to see what samsung is gonna come up with the s24 ultra
Ended Samsung 😂
u
As a life long iPhone used (almost switch to Android around 2016 after been so tired of the 6, 6s and 7 form factor) I salute Samsung's progressions throughout the years. The better Samsung gets, the better my iPhone will become.
Im still a happy s23 user :)
Yeah I honestly can’t wait
I don’t have high expectations for video in the s24 but we’ll see😃
Since you kept referencing the iPhone's 48MP camera, it probably would have made sense to compare it to the Samsung's 50MP mode rather than the 200MP mode. The 50MP mode performs a lot better than the 200MP mode in terms of things like processing time, and I would have been genuinely curious to see how they stack up for daylight photography when MPs are more comparable.
Right, it's like he forgot that feature existed at all.
@Mrwhosetheboss please give us an update of this video with 50mp mode enabled
He didn't even mention the 50mp mode ! I recently read a review of these 2 phones in a camera magazine and they gave it to the samsung.
He's sponsored by Apple, why do you think he'll make an objective assessment?
He seems bias honestly..always rating iphone better in most category while in actual sense its not also whenever samsung seems to be far superior to that category he declares a tie
Just chiming in to say that 200mpx (103mpx for me on the S22U) has its uses not just for print photography, I visit sites for work frequently, and many times I am looking for a detail I didn't think I needed until later, but managed to find it from zooming in on the hi res shot.
200mp is GIMMICK , i tested in indoor and low light 200mp mode vs 50mp mode on x90 pro+ with 1 inch sensor and the lower the light the more details vivo has over samsung, mp is useless on such a small sensor as the one from samsung.
@@adyady3099I'd rather want Samsung to make a 1 inch, 100 mp sensor than increasing resolution pointlessly.
@@Chopper153 good luck with that, is easier for samsung to bump useless mp on paper than actual do improvements since most average joe will fall for specs on a paper.
Samsung became the apple of androids when huawei went down, expect them to milk you for another 5 years until 1 inch sensor.
iPhone won keep crying salty android fanboys cope harder 😂😢😊

As an S23U user. Looking at the features and advancements of the iPhone 15, it seems predictable that the Samsung S24 will also follow Apple path. The competition between Samsung and iPhone certainly benefits us as users

I'm impressed. The biggest improvement I observed is in the iPhone's noise reduction, which kinda took em years to finally do something about it. I'm curious now whether the upcoming Pixel 8 series is gonna slacken on their noise reduction as well and let the iPhone beat the Pixel in cleaner low light photos, for the first time. Can't wait for that comparison.
After years and years and years Android phones still take mostly grainy videos. It's an issue still not fixed so what is taking Google and Samsung so long?
@@lamar310my guess would be no photonic engine. If I remember correctly only the iPhone Chips have a specific segment inside of them that is dedicated to taking photos and videos. That's why I think photos take in general more to process on Android. It's interesting why they don't build one as well or my guess is completely wrong and it's something else.
It's all about software side improvement which only Apple can do because they are the only one who develops the chips and OS. In Android side Chips and OS doesn't come from one company. So there is always some lacking. But this difference will keep decreasing as it is improving day by day.@@lamar310

Always informative video.
As much as improvements have been made to camera hardware and software, at the end of the day a lot of consumers will still prefer the results from one brand over the other. I believe it's more of a stylistic choice, and it also boils down to the consumer's priorities regarding photography.

I’m still in awe at the sheer fact that a camera smaller than a palm of a hand can give such a precise and detailed photo, yes most proper cameras are much better, but the fact that such a small camera fit inside a phone not made just for photos (although one of the main features is obviously the camera), it’s definitely not the only thing built into these pretty small phones. And the camera itself for its size, is absolutely astonishing for me
That’s because the camera hardware in itself alone doesn’t provide the excellent outcome but rather the software optimisation processing the information received
@@meyasinmComputational photography has come a long way. I always wondered why nobody offers a full frame camera with this kind of software.
This software coupled with a large sensor, same decent glass and eye-AF would surely deliver awesome results.
The market for this camera would probably be rather small though.
@@cmdrratzass7305 im not an expert in this field but it could surely be based on the fact that iphone and samsung as a smartphone manufacture already has 10x more expertise in the software department than a hardware focused company like sony. Yes camera manufactures could learn a lot from this but the gap b/w smarphone software and camera software is waay to far right now.. Also the fact that apple/samsung puts so much money into software and chipset(etc) that sony or any other manufacture cannot even dream of outright copying them.
@@cmdrratzass7305yeah it would be small as photographers on their own add all the effects to get the results the client wants. It could be done with AI but that's gonna need way too much for all the variations of effects there are.

I agree
Nice Comparison. I find it interesting that you've done comparisons for 24mp vs 12mp and 48mp vs 200mp and completely skipped the 50MP mode on the Samsung. The S23 Ultra takes pretty good daytime picks at 50MP which are often better than default 12mp picks. i.e. less compression or jagged edges from over sharping. The 50MP photos are also better than the 200MP photos Samsung should take apples lead and make 50mp the default resolution. I would have liked to see comparisons between 24MP vs 50MP and 48MP vs 50MP. Oh, and we forget that HEIF format is not widely supported on non Apple devices and require exporting as JPG.

Thank you! This helped me make my decision.
So I do a lot of photography with both my 23 ultra and my pixel 7 pro, haven't gotten my hands on a 15 pro max to be able to compare myself yet, but for my uses (mostly vehicle photography and night sky shots) the s23 ultra has been the best for me, night sky shots I will say the pixel takes the lead on, but the s23 is pretty damn close. But having that 3x lens is perfect, as it is the best zoom to get pictures of cars, without taking any quality hit. I also do some nature photography, and the 200mp camera has helped out a lot with that, the amount of detail is amazing, and has wonderful end results, but mostly only if it is close, within 3-5 feet, then it starts to not be as good
You should get iPhone it’s better

Like so many things I love how complex the comparisons really are. Really does come down to what people want to do with it. That night mode stuff is crazy these days
though, both camps are scary good.
00:03 The iPhone 15 Pro Max has improved its camera features, including resolution, night mode, and portrait mode, as well as optical zoom and dynamic range.
01:50 Samsung and iPhone have different approaches to zoom, with each having its strengths and weaknesses.
03:36 Samsung's camera app offers more fun and experimental options compared to the iPhone, but the practical experience feels dated.
05:22 The iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung have similar camera speed and audio quality.
07:05 Samsung and Apple smartphones have comparable portrait modes and improved cinematic and slow-mo features.
08:49 Samsung has an edge in slow-mo and macro photography, while Apple excels in video quality.
10:32 Samsung's video quality is affected by grain in low light
12:20 The iPhone's smart hdr feature captures complex lighting scenarios accurately.
14:06 Daytime photos are the most important category for most people and having more megapixels is a game-changer.
15:52 iPhone's high-res mode is the default option with no compromise

Why you didn't mention S23U microphone zoom that follows automatically video zoom? Its impressive. I was impressed of how it picked up a voice from people 20m away from me
I agree on that part! It's fascinating
I believe iPhones also have it! iPhone 11 and up have the microphone zoom, Apple called it "Audio Zoom." He probably didn't mention it because it's good in both?
Ok, if iPhone have it as well, than that's something for a compare test :)
Likely not mentioned as Samsungs is better than apples!
I'm pretty sure iPhones also have that, but attemping to mention something one phone may or may not have doesn't make a fair comparison, for example Apple has now implemented it's new voice isolation feature or wide spectrum voice feature which is very impressive, but Samsung I don't think has that.
Great review!!!
I was not expecting @11:28 and the laugh I let out was so loud it startled my napping cat and husband 😂❤
7:10 Oh hell nah 😂💀
Would have been interested in seeing Samsungs 50mp option included in this comparison too. Ultimately though I think these camera comparisons are becoming less and less relevant. They are both more than enough for 90% of users and the day to day shooting they'll do. And if you're someone who's actually pixel peeping and looking at colour correction etc., then you're probably not shooting auto mode anyway and better of shooting manual/RAW and editing colour/light yourself.
Also none of these reviewers used the 2x mode on Samsung which added in the last update
u mad apple won
@@kxngoxar6584 i am not mad for apple to win since they have more experience with their camera's and can make them better and have modes turn on automatically using smart AI inside their camera's. Samsung on the other hand focussed more on improving what they lacked mostly with their older phones, now they have one of the largest zoom features of any smartphone, lots of modes and features to adjust your pictures how you want, even changing them after you taken the shot to adjust any details the camera might taken in a bad light or blurring out anything, adding features of 1 pictures to another and so on. Just like mr boss says, Samsung has tons of features and hard to cover them all, it is also hard to use them with 1 hand since the S23 ultra is a very large phone.
Now what camera is best depends on you as the user if you like to have direct nice pictures and easy to change features with the Iphone or are you more into using alot of features with 2 hands, adjusting your shots constantly and knowing what you take when to put the right effects on your shots with the S23 ultra?
i myself got the S23 and i haven't regretted getting him at all, pictures and videos are the best for my liking, the zoom helps alot to look at objects far away and taking them without disturbing anything. it is true that the S23 looks for brightness and warm colors at all times but i don't mind to adjust my pictures and edit to my liking afterwards. Apple has smart AI build in for years now and Samsung is missing some of those features but it might come in the next S series or even the K series what will be focussed on camera mostly

For a second I was afraid that you're going to completely skip the higher resolution mode on S23U and I was nearly right. Nearly, because you've only mentioned about the 200MP mode when in reality there's also a 50MP mode which is superior (in my opinion as a user) to both standard 12MP and the high-res 200MP. It's my default mode for daytime pictures because of the added detail when compared to 12MP mode. It still takes a few seconds for the phone to process the picture but IMO 50MP mode is the perfect balance between quality of pictures, size of sized image and time this phone needs to process the image before it's accessible. I believe that comparing standard 24MP mode on iPhone to 50MP mode on Samsung could slightly change the result and overall comparison.
That is the truth, but whisper it on here as there are lot of Apple people out here riding the wave of excitement of a new IPhone release. Bless them..😅😅

Although the comparison was pretty detailed, I feel like the last point should have gone to Samsung, also you didn't test 5x or 10x zoom in daylight, a lot of Samsung users use this feature in day and it's pretty helpful, I feel Samsung would have got that point. All in all its nearly a draw with a slight edge to Apple just because of almost no shutter lag, and better implementation of portrait mode after taking the shot(it's been there in Samsung for atleast 1 year now)

-> You can enable HEIF picture format on the samsung and thereby have have a reduction in file size of 75% as per my experience while retaining the same quality for the 200MP mode.
-> You have a 50MP option in the samsung and hence it would have been more appropriate to take a photo with the 50MP mode of the samsung vs the 48MP of the iPhone for better comparison as the 200MP mode shines more on good light than in low light
-> For the 24MP mode yea, I wish samsung could push an update giving us S23 Ultra users to take 24MP in default since they have a 200MP camera anyway, and the 50MP mode is fast enough alright that I doubt 24-25MP mode option on the S23 Ultra would be a problem. They already enabled enhanced 2X crop on the main sensor giving us 2X optical like zoom on the S23 Ultra which is indeed great. What more of that 24-25MP mode really.
-> As for the graininess in low light video in S23 Ultra, this is something I noticed too as samsung always wants to show more of a dark image, hence what I do is just manually lower the exposure and the graininess is gone and that I have more a real life look in the video than in Auto. Now this is something I want compared really as each phone has their strengths and weaknesses, but something little bothering as that with slight changes is something I could trade for having a great all around camera really.
I totally agree, Samsung focuses way too much on specs and not software, I think HEIF is now a standard on all phones, recently they pushed 15s HEIF format to the 14s so both phones now takes 5mb 48mp so thats good. But I hope samsung pushes software.
Good job pointing it out, he should've addressed some of this stuff in the video
It's not helping, still crap quality pics and video on S23Ultra.
The amount of work and quality content and testing you put into these videos is insane! Amazing work!
This casetify sponosirship aged like fine milk
i always wait for this specific comparison for a whole year
Its crazy how hard he had to help the iPhone 😂 He gave it a draw in zoom lol because he only did it in low light and then just said the 200MP is not an option for many, classic "the average consumer doesnt care" cope
Some clear bias towards the iPhone on this video sadly, I normally agree with Arun but he is drinking the Apple coolaid here and marking Samsung down on this things he allows Apple to get away with.
I'll still take the battery life, screen quality and operating system of the S23 Ultra over the kids toy that is an iPhone anyday.
He didn’t even show the 5x portrait mode on the 15 pro max which is sooo good and veryy impressive

I can't even imagine what kind of technology those phone are going to have in 5years from now🤯 . Love the content ❤
It won't be significantly better. The tech jump in 5 years will be significantly smaller than the tech jump from 5 years ago. You can only improve so much and these days it's rather incremental. The next big advancement in phone tech will likely be a significantly longer lasting battery. We are already seeing such battery tech in testing, but once it becomes commercialized, this new battery tech will be a major game changer.
@@mollerbtmost improvements are coming through software. For example, iOS 17 got some really nice features, especially with AI
Smartphone is in peak now
everything from this point is gonna be more and more miniscule we probably are around or nearing the peak of phones
i just bought a s23ultra, and I'm gonna trade it in 5 years time, then do the same with that phone
How? How does one make a video like this? Sooooo detailed in info and in pixs
16:51 So the company that makes the ecoshock also provides the competitor's sample? That doesn't make any sense, they can just give an extra bouncy material and print "competitor" on it.
I salute the level of commitment and passion through which these contents are made...
Kudos to the team behind the efforts... ❤❤❤
Not really - the samsung was not using the latest software and he failed to even mention the 50mp mode, pretty slack to be honest and not up to his usual standard sadly.
Most of the things in this video are Inaccurate
The amount of work that must have gone into editing this video... huge props to you guys, keep it up. Great video.
In fairness, Apple does pay a lot for these reviews, so they had a large budget.
Looking forward to the Pixel 8 Pro camera battle! 😎
Great video as always
Both the phones take great photos but
one thing which always surprised me is how iPhones have a really good preview compared to android phones.
Honestly that is the only part where I feel android is lacking.
Anybody know what is the technical part going on with the preview?
Having ran the 23ultra since upgrading from the S22ultra ( Samsung was giving stupidly good deals) there is a big upgrade from the S22ultra however to Apples cameras it seems to be a little more consistent.
The 200mp quad Bayer design is definitely amazing and does work well on the s23Ultra + snapdragon 8 gen2 ( 108mp on snapdragon 8 gen1 was hot garbage) however because it is high resolution not as bright and needs to average scenario to quad Bayer into 16mp subtleties get machines over along with noise reduction since higher mp will show it more.
While I personally probably won't go to iPhone since they don't have a dedicated file manger the camera system is very simple and having a wider aperture and greater dynamic range allows for general smoothness and better control of subtitles.
I will say in 2-3 model generation either manufacturer will probably get BSI sensor and will drop resolution towards the 60mp standard. Samsungs approach is pleasantly brilliant but there is too much overhead in a nonstandard 200mp based quad Bayer design(good packaging though)
no, check comparing in day light
What do you mean with 'no dedicated file manager'?

I still think that the s23 is the way to go because all of the photos and the videos look clearer and on the Samsung you can make the photos look even better but that is the same with the iPhone when changing the settings after shot. Also with the Samsung people are probably not too worried about the quality when you zoom up on a specific but it depends on what you are trying to take the photos of and vid.
accept defeat little android fan, stop being a bad loser
I dont know if I have done something wrong but I compared a 15pm vs lg v60 and the lg shots were more detailed when cropped in all the way
The 24mp option was on
This was both in the night and the day
Lol why i miss this videos 😮😅
As usual a pretty detailed video, however I really don't understand how Arun awarded Portrait & Day Light to iPhone.
The Portrait shots of S23U, that were shown in the video, were clearly better. iPhone might take it in 24MP but we don't usual zoom in our portrait images, so it really doesn't matter.
Coming to the Daylight photos, i felt as if Arun was just searching for reasons to give to iPhone. He is constantly talking about 24MP images but didn't even mention 50MP mode in S23U , I mean giving the point just because it takes 24MP default is ridiculous. And also about 2X, you can have it in Samsung too!
To be Honest, I am not surprised this going in iPhone's away after watching the previous video, Arun was too excited on the improvements I knew it was going to be bit biased when he announced camera comparison.
You must be joking... Reason is that iphone captures those 24mp shots much faster than samsung manages to do 12mp, what is more 24mp shots on the iphone still take up less storage than 12mp on samsung (same with the portraits).
If anything it feels like he's giving Samsung some points just to make android fanboys happy, cinematic mode on iphone is worlds apart (anyone who knows how professional camera works will realise that iphone creates a proper depth map of the whole scene and gives different amount of blur to different parts, samsung basically registers the human and cuts everything else like some toy), another is the front camera where iphone clearly had more mature shots, even with audio it was a clear win for the iphone yet he didn't give an outright win...

But with how good the s23 is in camera + the os and all the other features and specs I definitely am staying with it
Well, yeah... Nobody would expect you to change an S23 Ultra for the iPhone 15, you have an amazing phone.
@Xyler94 I know but even if I didn't and for anyone who is looking to upgrade it just seems better.
