First of all, I just stumbled upon your channel this morning & have been learning quite a bit. Keep up the great work. Second, I just purchased the AVH-X491BHS & installed it myself. All in all, I enjoy the hell out of it, but it isn’t without some issues. One is that the remote is basically functionless for anything besides watching videos. Sure, it controls the volume & changes stations, but everything else has to be accessed onscreen. Not a major issue, but I regularly used the remote to control functions on my old DEH-X6800BS & could do so without taking my eyes off the road. Another qualm I have is that the info lines are gaudy & sloppy. It just seems that everything is thrown onscreen haphazardly & it seems a bit disorganized. Also, album art hardly shows while listening to SiriusXM. Whether or not that is on Pioneer or SXM, I’m not sure. Maybe it can be addressed with an update? My last fuss is streaming video from USB. I have been converting files to supported formats, threshold screen resolutions, & manageable frame rates, but I have had no luck yet. If you guys could enlighten me as to the proper procedures & parameters to make it work, I would sincerely appreciate it. Aside from those couple nags, I love the system overall. The Bluetooth phone calling is noticeably clearer to people I call, which is awesome because I do a lot of traveling in hellish traffic & my old stereo wasn’t quite up to snuff in that aspect. The sound clarity is excellent, especially when I tweaked the equalizer & adjusted the very specific settings, which is great for audiophiles like me, but isn’t necessary to get great sound. I’m still learning what all the bells & whistles do, with all the different apps & peripherals, & it is, without a doubt, an awesome upgrade.

Shelby I had the same issue when I installed my x491BHS. After I installed the parking brake bypass, it started working for whatever reason. And I agree with you that the info lines are a bit chunky & sloppy. Hopefully Pioneer will come out with an update that will address that. Other than a few minor issues, I’m very satisfied with it so far.
The only difference between these stereo's is their displays. The 390BS has a 6.2" display which is completely fixed and not motorized, and the 490BS has a 7" motorized display with a disc slot behind its display.

An independent place called Stereo Sound. I compared it to Amazon pricing and figured it was a good deal with that being the price with the antenna, kit, etc..
I discovered a problem with this model: if you wish to use the Bluetooth feature with your phone, the USB connection is disabled. It appears to be one or the other; not both. If anyone has a fix for this, please post.
It's the same head unit as last year just a new model number avh-490 is the samething as avh-4800 nothing new all pioneer new head units are all the same the only new thing is a new model number
