    Fun Fact: Nightcrawler's original origin story was to have Mistique take the form of a man and impregnate her lover Destiny but the Idea was too controversial at the time so it was dropped.

    I wonder if Mystique have photograpic memory, she can mimic someone after just seeing them once. That means that she has the worlds first real proven photograpic memory. There have been people who has an incredibly memory, but it has never been proven to be photograpic.

Mystque has only helped the X-men for her only personal gain or survival if it's to face off against a bigger threat. Or more commonly just to get closer to Rogue. Mystique would never ever willingly commit an act of good for the sole purpose of doing the right thing and saving lives. And she's betrayed the X-men multiple times after helping them and even killed members of their group. Mystique is one of the most evil Mutants on Earth lol, at least top 10. Far more evil than Magneto. The later films got her character completely in almost every single way.

    I would be ecstatic if people would stop counting movies as any tie in to any character's back story, or really any part of their story. Stick to the comics. Comic book fans know what I'm talking about. It really sucks to hear your favorite character is getting a movie or show, and the writer "tweeks" or straight up re-writes the characters story. You end up feeling like, why did I even watch this especially when 9 times out of 10 the story is written worst so the people who don't know the character can understand/enjoy the show. It seems like a logical idea at first glance, but the writer should stop and think before they write the show and say, "Uhm you know the reason the character is getting a show is because of the fan base they have amassed due to the characters history. Maybe I shouldn't vomit all over this characters past history?"

    • @DrivenSavage

      Heck yeah! was that to subtle? But yeah in all seriousness though, yes.

    • @DrivenSavage
      @DrivenSavage Před 10 lety

      ***** I understand what you're getting at, but there is just no legitimate argument one can make arguing in the favor of movies not following the comics to the letter. This is my argument: If you're making a comic book movie because of the huge or significant following of a comic, rewriting either the story's premise or characters would ultimately leave fans disappointed. And, since the primary goal was only to make money off of the idea and not to bring the stories to life, I believe it's fair to say that movies are just an exploitation of the comics. Let me be clear though, I'm not saying people can't do that, and I say this for two reasons. One, they have already done this, and two, we live in a country that runs capitalism, and in a capitalist country, exploitation is the name of the game. Again, I'm not saying they can't, I just prefer they didn't, and I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Apparently, there are so many of us they have given us a name, purist.

    • @DrivenSavage
      @DrivenSavage Před 10 lety +1

      ***** I get what you're getting at, but I don't think you thought this through. Remember, the movie was only made because of the fanboy and fangirl base. Remember, we live in a capitalist society. So that means we don't waste when it comes to the business side of economics. When talk of a movie came up, one of the first things they looked at is a budget. This means projected numbers, in other words, how much can we spend on making the movie and how much will we make in profits. They were thinking revenue-expenses=profits. The healthy bulk of revenue came from Fanboys and fangirls. They know these are the people who will go or are at least expected to go see the movie, without them production of the movie will not happen. It's simply not enough interest in the project, which they see as not enough of a money making project. This is why I say they should cater to fanboys and fangirls (of the comics books in this case). Short version, you go where the money is.

    • @DrivenSavage
      @DrivenSavage Před 10 lety +1

      ***** (Please do not read this with a condescending tone. I did not write with malice in mind.) Again, that's not the reason 20th century fox "down played" the costumes for the x-men movie. They simply didn't want to spend the extra money to customize the different suits. During an interview they actually said those words. Again, it came down to revenue - expenses = profits. They may have felt that it would be tacky, but then again a group of super-powered adults calling themselves the x-men was not tacky? I mean, names like storm, cyclops, Toad, saber-tooth, mystique, and magneto seem like perfectly good names to me (Sarcasm) lol. Don't forget all the weirdness that goes with that, like mystique being completely blue, and saber-tooth (at least in the movie) not being able to grasp the elusive English language, seeing as the only time he spoke was when Charles took control of his mind. You have your opinion and you're entitled to it, but in this case, your opinion about wolverine's costume being tacky is in the minority, for the majority of comic book readers, it would have come across as normal because they would have been use to seeing it in the comics. Remember, the target audience for the movie were the comic book fans. This means the majority of the movie goers would have actually preferred it to be yellow and blue. Now don't misunderstand me. Yes, the yellow and blue costume is odd, but in context it would have been preferred. To give you perspective on your argument about tacky looking, the equivalent would be if you were in charge of the harry potter movies. Let's say you decided, "you know what, I'm not going to have magic in this movie, I'm going to have it all explained through science. I'm going to do it this way because otherwise it would look... tacky." In others words, no flying brooms.

    • @DrivenSavage
      @DrivenSavage Před 10 lety +2

      ***** You seem to be confused. 20th century fox actually said they didn't do the different costumes because it was cheaper to do one color. Those are not my words, it was theirs. You also misunderstand target audience and the average movie audience. Of course they want everyone to go see it, but as a movie designer you have to ball park your estimates. To do a semi-accuracy estimate you need a target group to go with. example: If you're a business man and you're handing out business cards you probably don't hand them out to people 14 years old and younger. Not because you don't want them to know about your company, but because they are typically to young to invest or work for your company, so if the population is 100 people and for easy math 40 are under the age of 14, and let's say that's the only people you have excluded, then you should have at least 65 to 70 cards on you and no more each day. You want to keep the waste to a minimum. You don't want so many that you cut profits, but you don't want to have so little that you can't provide the cards to someone who wants one. For the x-men movie they did this, but focused on a target group, as discounting who wouldn't come would have simply been to many to exclude, so you focus on who would, with a reasonable margin for error. (I.E. Comic book fans) They are already familiar with the content so we don't have to go into every little detail for the character to be dynamic, we simply have to gloss over it because the character is already larger than life for this group of fans. You say the rules are different for superheroes versus harry potter or star wars type films. But why do you say that? For the majority of people who are not fans of these types of movies they are classified in the same group. Only the fans of these movies find and establish a difference in believe-ability.

    I have always wondered about Mystique's abilities. Taking on a subjects appearance and vocal patterns is completely separate from the subject's mannerisms, vocabulary, and basic thought patterns. An imposter could easily be spotted if, lets say they looked like one person but they carried themselves like a total stranger who spoke in a totally different lexicon. By taking on too many engrams from a individual's pattern, Mystique could run the risk of becoming a permanent mental mash-up.

      Ann Boylen The thing I really liked with her portrayal of Mystique is that they make it obvious that she's still growing, and learning how to imitate people properly. I thought DOFP showed quite well when she impersonated Trask, that Mystique made mistakes now and then, and did things the person she is impersonating would never do (such as asking about the secretaries scarf)
      Or how she chose the most noticeable person in the crowd to become when escaping from Magneto. It was just a nice way of showing yes she has awesome powers but she's still learning how to imitate other people. Where In the original trilogy she had it down, and could imitate anyone perfectly without the slightest flaw or tell, but she was a lot older than this version. So I like that they are showing a believable amount of growth in her abilities between the two films and I hope in the final one she has got it right.

    I always had a theory, whereby Mystique and Wolverine are the real biological parents of Rogue. Hear me out. When Logan and Mystique were in weapon x together, they were in love and possibly had a child. This was discovered by the officials and as punishment attempted to use all three for weapon x procedure. Escaping, Raven took the child to Caldecott county, mississippi, and hid her with a family erasing her memory so weapon x couldn't find the child and changing the memories of the couple into thinking they always had a daughter. Logan forgot due to memory wipe and Rogue was too young remember. Learning from their mistake weapon x tried agian with X-23. Destiny later foretold of Rogue and Raven and her daughter were unwittingly reunited once more. What do you think?

    I have a question. Is Mystique as involved and a main character (like Apocalypse) in the comics? Because to me it kind of feels out of nowhere, and I feel like just because it's Jennifer Lawrence they made her more involved than she is in the comics. Sure, they're in a new timeline from Logan changing the past but. It still feels wrong to me.
    From good to evil with- I don't know, I didn't see it yet but it's weird seeing Mystique being all high and mighty ordering people now. I'm exaggerating. But, you know what I mean.
    Although I gotta admit I don't like a chubby girl playing Mystique either. The former actress was better IMO in portrayal and physicality of movement and style. Everything is better, IMO.
