Out of all the tributes to Prince they had on all the award shows, I am not sure why this is the only one that thought Shelia E. There was no better artist than Sheila E to do a tribute for the Artist Known as Prince. I also totally loved Jerome being there .. LOVED every minute of this.

I'm absolutely astounded by Sheila's performance and how much she honored Prince with her and her crews ability to give a show, in Prince's style. Absolutely fantastic. Love you bunches, Sheila.
This in my own opinion is the tribute to Prince, this was the people he worked with, loved and respected. Shame that I get the feeling that Sheila seems to have taken it hard, she truly loved him, but this is his old group, the twins, dancers , musicians, the lot. This can only be the real tribute. I hope, really hope, that Sheila can get over his passing n it much of taken a lot of courage to do this.

That particular "Cloud guitar" (So called because they fit the Cloud Suit that Prince wore in the "Raspberry Beret" video so well) is one of the original four that guitar builder Dave Rusan made Prince. It was his second White one he used in the "Purple rain" tour and after having it refinished black in the "Parade" tour. It later was his main cloud during the Lovesexy tour refinished light blue and brought back during the early 2000's era when he brought the name Prince back again, he can be seen playing the guitar, refinished Purlpe as it appears here, in the live show shot in Las vegas. As for the other three. The third was given away in a raffle when "Purple Rain" the movie premiered. The fourth, finished in Yellow is in the Smithsonian museum. And then there was the first, the one from the movie, that original one. Which was completely destroyed by Prince at the very last show of the "Parade" tour.

Watching this again in 2024 and my eyes started tearing up just like they did that night when I saw it going down on live TV, at the end when the cameras came in on the close up of Sheila's sad face. Such a kick ass performance by everyone on that stage and a perfectly flawless, and musically respectful tribute to greatest living musician of my lifetime. Shelia did such a great job with the arrangements too, Im sure Prince was with her that night watching, rocking ,and no doubt feeling very proud and moved. Sheila, I realize you'll never see this comment, and that you don't know me but ima write it anyway, I just wanted to say that I still love just as much as I did when i first heard and saw you on MTV singing about the Glamorous Life in 1984, and I hope you can please accept my very late by 8 years thank you for putting this awesome tribute together that night for all of us to honor our hero, Prince. No, I cry every time I watch this and I've watched it many times. He was a flawed but beautiful genius and Sheila E. probably knew him best. I'm still so sad. I went to Paisley Park last year for a tour and was glad I went but it was of course, sad, too.
That whole night was just amazing. From Beyonce and Kendrick, to janelle Monae, to Jennifer Hudson and then Shelia E. Just amazing talent and great music.

She went permanently down in my estimation after that. If you truly loved someone you'd never have belittled them like she did. Sheila E truly loved him with all her heart and always will and I'm sorry she wasn't the one who ended up with Prince. At the end it was Sheila E fighting back the tears while Mayte beamed from ear to ear. Pffft!

Man. Watching this again in 2024 and my eyes started tearing up just like they did that night when I saw it going down on live TV, at the end when the cameras came in on the close up of Sheila's sad face.
Such a kick ass performance by everyone on that stage and a perfectly flawless, and musically respectful tribute to greatest living musician of my lifetime. Shelia did such a great job with the arrangements too, Im sure Prince was with her that night watching, rocking ,and no doubt feeling very proud and moved.
Sheila, I realize you'll never see this comment, and that you don't know me but ima write it anyway, I just wanted to say that I still love just as much as I did when i first heard and saw you on MTV singing about the Glamorous Life in 1984, and I hope you can please accept my very late by 8 years thank you for putting this awesome tribute together that night for all of us to honor our hero, Prince. No, I cry every time I watch this and I've watched it many times. He was a flawed but beautiful genius and Sheila E. probably knew him best. I'm still so sad. I went to Paisley Park last year for a tour and was glad I went but it was of course, sad, too.

I think him and Sheila were so similar that maybe it seemed weird to be in a romantic relationship. I’ve heard in past that Vanity was like the female version of prince but I believe that’s Sheila not Vanity. I just think him and Vanity had that same arrogance about themselves but that’s all. Yes prince was arrogant and we all know it and that’s what makes him; him. I been in all of prince ever since I was little back when he was on MTV little red corvette and 1999. I thought he was so mysterious and cool I was only like 6/7 but I seen it in him early on.

Love Sheila E and this whole tribute was amazing but I'm sorry Mayte played a part in it - after seeing her on Hollywood Ex's making fun of Prince's clothes, killing herself laughing at them with the other women and then hearing her say (about her wedding dress) "Whoever thought a crappy wedding dress could get so much money". She went permanently down in my estimation after that. If you truly loved someone you'd never have belittled them like she did. Sheila E truly loved him with all her heart and always will and I'm sorry she wasn't the one who ended up with Prince. At the end it was Sheila E fighting back the tears while Mayte beamed from ear to ear. Pffft!
