I feel that the way J and S are portrayed is the same as they are in DR and I love it, while Jevil loves that nothing he does matters, but Spamton hates it because he just wants to make his own decisions, Toby is showing that both of these outlooks are bad in their own way, you have to be in between the two mindsets, you can’t do whatever you want but you also can’t just crumble and do nothing.
Edit: holy heck, I didn’t expect this many likes from some dumb philosophy that I just felt like no one realized in Deltarune, because I had never really seen anyone point it out I just felt like it was somewhat obvious because of Deltarune’s whole escapism shtick

Okay, actually? The choices of the singers for Heart's Lyrics paints such a difference between the characters. One who's gleefully given into his own insanity, the other a desperate husk clinging onto what little sanity he has left, while his life crumbles. Almost makes you wonder who's better off.
Also I LOVE how you depict Gaster here? Visually he's constantly smiling, face nearly unchaining. Taking pleasure in tearing down the people he supposedly drove to madness. It's an unnervingly refreshing take on the character, someone who doesn't see those around him, those _beneath_ him, as anything but toys. He shows frustration at the failures, but only because they are just that.

Kris saying 'call me the Soul or call me my name' or saying 'call me your host' is very thematically fitting to the game. I know that in the song its simply in reference to the other two, but it fits very well with the game because, well, if you know you know!
… I think I just realized that “this rope is tied” might mean a noose, and I need to go think about the implications

Yeah, the original song implies that the Heart and Mind want to kill each other to have more control while the Soul gets sick of their fighting and wants to kill itself (alongside their Heart and Mind) to end the fighting.

HOLY FUCK I HAVE A LOT OF THEORIES FOR THIS WHOLE ANIMATION
While in the Dark World, Kris has to endure the others, Spamton, Jevil and Gaster (As well as possible other characters further on whenever new Chapters come out) bicker and fight all day, to the point where it is driving him crazy.
Gaster is more logical, it doesnt seem he isn't capable of feeling, he does what he does due to his interest in the outcome of all of it, Jevil and Spamton are more emotional, as they dislike Gaster for destroying their past and loved life whenever they came in contact with him, but they are capable of Logic, they know if they side with Kris, maybe this can come to an end faster than they assume, hence why they allow the player to get them as an Item, Kris in the third side, is simply going crazy, with the constant bickering/fighting, with the constant loss of control due to the Player, and even maybe because of the adventures he goes to as well
This series has been a blast to follow, i will make a lotta theories abt this

@@thatdudedojo3802 they are referred to exclusively with they/them pronouns, as are several other characters between the two games. And quite frankly, I've yet to meet the person who doesn't care about character's gender who cares about it for real life people.

the lyrics genuinely fit the characters so well, especially with Jevil AND Spamton singing Heart's Acoustic and Kris seemingly swapping with the Player/Soul at some points(?)
also i cant get over how creepy that Gaster design is, and the parts where they just stare at the camera are so unsettling in a perfect way

Man am I glad to finally see this amazing animatic finished! This is just so well done and we see you put a lot of time and effort into it!
But I gotta say, my favorite part about this is the personality and emotions you put in the characters especially Kris. They just looks so fed up with everyone's crap, and were probably forced to be there to sing in the first place. Gaster is a full on cartoon villain, Spamton looks absolutely desperate, the poor guy just want a normal, free life, and Jevil... I'm gonna be honest, Jevil doesn't look like he thinks he's concerned by the situation. He's most likely just here to root for Spam and support him in some way.
I was waiting for the soul part and man, that was worth the wait! Kris was a perfect fit, considering their status in the canon.

I love how you draw [[#1 RATED SALESMEN]] and Jevil (as well as his horns under his hat) gaster gives off someone barley keeping himself in one piece and how the ‘soul’ is so confused and conflicted because it doesn’t really know that it is!

This is without a doubt my favourite collection of deltarune animatics, love seeing the wacky crew of jevil, spamton, gaster and kris interacting. I love the art, I mean this just rules! Very well done!
Omg this is just so perfect, holy crap??? Like this is incredible. Also all the little details in this are so cool (and funny). The visual difference between the player and Kris is so minor with only a slight change in the colour and eyes. At first, I actually didn't realise who was who which is even better considering the player controls Kris. Also the low-key Spamvil content from Jevil comforting Spamton, to them running away together from Gaster or Spamton putting Jevil's hat on for him. Also, Gaster facepalming on that last part was very amusing. The scene when they land after dropping down the hole, with Splat Gaster, Family guy death pose Spamton and Tails Jevil, were also really fun and amusing visuals. The designs are also so good too like your Gaster design is so goofy (in a good way) and unnerving at the same time and the lil' patches on Spamtons clothes as well as Jevil's horns. OH and the backstories for the two of them being shown was so well done, especially with the headcanons(?) included like Spamton shrinking from acid or Jevil being the one to tear off Seam's eye as well as the clear suffering they went through. THE MAKESHIFT WINGS GASTER CREATES WITH HIS GOOPY BODY IS ALSO SO COOL??? Especially, with his association with the devil who would be a fallen angel, thus the wings. It also kinda pokes at his slight god complex and establishes how in that moment he is the one in control. The song also fits so well WTH??? The dynamic you created with all the characters was so entertaining, especially, the part where they point to Kris/Player and are like, "You REALLY WANT to be THEM??" or the scene where they all follow/stalk Kris from behind. Also the characterisation of the player having a kind of god complex is so fitting considering that they are beyond the reach of any of the characters present. THE ENDING THO, god the visual switch up from uncoloured drawings in a black space to a fully coloured "real world" was so visually satisfying. The reveal that it was all a dream also makes SO MUCH SENSE bcs you can enter the dark world in your own room if you replay the game enough. Not to even mention, Kris specifically having them in the dream bcs they had them on their light world equivalents on their person as they slept. Clearly a lot of thought and effort was put into this animatic. I really hope this gets the attention it deserves because this was such an incredible watch. I sincerely hope you are proud of this work to bcs 12 mins worth of an animatic is a lot for one person even moreso with the handwritten subtitles with unique styles and ALSO WINGDINGS??? Really. I commend you for being able to commit your time and energy to actually complete such a feat. I hope you have a great day ahead of you.
PS. I have also been having a really bad deltarune fixation lately so this is like 10 times more awesome for me to find.
10:06 this entire sequence is amazing. Starting with all three of them and then just jevil and gaster, because unlike spamton who is trying to obtain freedom, jevil is content with living with his insanity and openly embraces it.

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOD THIS IS AMAZING!!!!! DJWNLIWHNWSXIOHBQOIEBHDBIHQ I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY!!!! My favorite thing tho is the constant switching between Kris and the player, Kris singing the more desperate and angry lines, while the player sings the more malicious and trigger happy lines (idk how to really describe the parts the player sings) but the best way to describe it, it illustrates how Kris is desperate fighting tooth and nail just to keep control of his own body, while when the player sings, it seems like it’s effortless to them to control Kris, and is really only there to have a fun time and play with gaster and the boys like they’re just toys to them :)

This was a whole saga to watch omg??? i can't imagine how much work and love was put into this, but i can say that this is fricking INCREDIBLE to witness. just WOW, the characters put to all of their lyrics its so frickin cool! the slow beats of the song, the kicks of it, the rises and the falls... it all really put their struggles into such beautiful painful vision. this was just awe-inspiring, take all my love.
10:03 is legit the best drawing I've ever seen idk why I love it so, SO much. This whole video is amazing, and I have the Soul Eclectic part on repeat, but MAN that one frame just makes me go ferally "yes"

you more than earned my sub this was an absolute treat to watch, my favorite aspect has gotta be how you went out of your way to add custom styles for the lyrics, spamton's was my favorite out of the four styles yet all added a lot of charm to this work and was such a nice touch to pair with the fun visuals, great job and thankyou for making this

I find it funny that Kris is at a disadvantage during this. They are the light bringer and thus they are weaker in the dark then the light.
Yet determination especially from a COURAGE soul is one hell of a drug. Kris is unable to fully control themself during it untill the end where he rips his soul out in the light.

I love all of it, Jevil and Spamton are very well portrayed, both on their own and how they interact with each other, Gaster was cool as hell, very rad how you committed to having all his lines being in wingdings (also did you HANDWRITE all the lyrics???). Kris being Soul is just perfect casting in general and I love all the little details everywhere. This is just a great video, 10/10 job.

this is an absolutely FANTASTIC animatic that i could probably go crazy on for a few paragraphs. but right now immediately post watching my FAVORITE detail is 11:27 where the clock reads "0:66". i dont. even know if that was intentional but god it works given gaster's association with repeated 6s. i love this animatic man.

i'd prefer instead of kris the "player" or frisk (they represent neutrality just like ''the soul electic") was "the soul electic" and all these goofy lil goobers were singing to kris and the parts in "the soul electic" were it treated the heart and mind as theirs's kris would be the one singing
If you listen to the changes in voice, the soul (player) is the speaker, with kris only speaking during a few segments. Pay attention to the lyrics during the segment and after it cuts to real kris.
