    Oh so much has changed since the 90's when I would go there and run trains with the group. I'll have to come back for a visit. Great work.

    Thankyou for the tour of your Rio Grande layout, this will help me in my modeling of the Moffat Road, I model the RG in a 13' x 13' Room on 4 different levels. from Denver upto Grand Junction I have Staging Yards at each end, West represents San Francisco via Salt Lake City & Ogden, & the East end represents Chicago via Kansas City. I have modeled the Denver Union station, North Yard, Big 10 Curves, Clay, Plainview, the Tunnel District, Tolland/East Portal, with a 4 turn Helix upto Winter Park, Tabernash, Bond, Glenwood Canyon, Dotsero (with a Staging yard representing Tennessee Pass, to Pueblo. Then Glenwood Springs & Grand Junction. I also model the Craig Branch in a smaller room!
    Cheers Rio Grande Steve.

    An interesting tour. I have a couple of questions:
    1. What is the size of the layout?
    2. What is the run length of the main line - from Denver Station back to Denver Station? Based on the run time of the Amtrak train, including the helix, I would assume that it is about 30 scale miles.

    • @MoffatModelers
      @MoffatModelers  Před 27 dny +2

      Our layout is roughly 20 feet wide by 120 feet long, and in terms of a full loop starting and ending at Denver Union Station, is somewhere roughly between 7 to 10 scale miles, as an n scale mile is 33 feet.

    Do you allow guest operators for those that may want to visit?

    • @MoffatModelers
      @MoffatModelers  Před 27 dny +3

      We do allow guests to operate trains on our layout, whether they ask if they can drive a train or we offer them the chance to drive a train on our two operation days each month. With that, guests are generally accompanied by a club member on the first couple of times around the layout, just to make sure nothing goes wrong.

    Fantastic layout and terrific narration! I'm in Australia and love the D&RGW, I also model in N Scale but on a much more modest 3.5 metre x 3.5 metre layout. I was in Denver in 2011 with my wife and young kids as part of a USA holiday during Amtrak's 40th anniversary and rode the California Zephyr between Chicago and Salt Lake City - Went to the Colorado Railroad Museum and loved every minute. I have The Genesis P42 Number 46 but it lacks the anniversary decals...Thanks for posting, I have subscribed to your channel...
