- So I got past the "Zeppelin" Copyright by waiting it out. Well..........the Dio Copyright keeps hanging around SO I tried the opposite approach. I used XTrax Stems and moved the Halestorm track around to kind of fit the original Dio Track Point being, this is the Halestorm musical version but it contains all of Vinny Appice's licks. I'm a HUGE Dio fan. I hate that the original cover keeps getting blocked so it truly is my hope this will fly in some manner just so I can say the track I put so much time into has a home and can be heard. I hope you all are great and have an amazing Saturday!!!!

Yep - Dio's copyright shut this down 3 separate times. It's still on here but it has a world wide block. It got 5 or 6,000 views before that - which to me is an OK thing for Dio's ppl???? Beats me. I don't know. I know I make no money so the publishing and royalties go to the song writer. Oh well, just glad it's out for now. It was weird making a song fit an existing drum track 🤣🤣🤣🤣

End of this one is all messed up. I had spent all Saturday trying to do this one totally backwards. I even use the Dio version in the solo section because Halestorm cut that down. But that said, while I would really like to file whatever one is supposed to file with CZcams regarding copyright disputes, I won't. I have no desire. Either an artist or act appreciates the extra attention (be it 1mm new viewers or 100), or they don't. RJD's folks don't want it at all. Which is odd considering I did 4-5 shows with RJD when he was playing clubs and the man couldn't have been more kind. He was a joy to meet in terms of legends. Anyways, we'll see LOL! It's some of Vinny's tasties stuff and that dude is LOADED with tasty stuff. I did that actual track last year but I remember having to find a clip of him breaking it down and going in there and slowly doing it. It's just a sick way to do a fill. He's a massively unorthodox drummer. And in hindsight, Dio is an impossible band to cover on here 🤣🤣

You're spot on again. This was last year. Song got blocked so no Buc-ee's sticker, etc. Work has been a bitch over the last bit and July is shaping up to be a month where I doubt I'll get any covers so I'm getting creative to keep things coming. But at the same time, I was a bit aggravated this kept getting blocked. I LOVE Dio dude. Really would prefer this cover be to the original as it was recorded. Oh well LOL!!!

Appreciate that Allan. This was cut to the actual STTH track and YT has blocked it (then unblocked, then blocked, etc.) enough that I just figure it's gone. So this was a first. The original track was not cut to any click and I LOVE songs that were done that way. The Halestorm track is to a click and a slightly different tempo. They drift all over so I had to keep scooting everything around on the drumless Halestorm track to make it "kinda" fit with the drums that were cut for a Dio cover. Anyways, it was an interesting experiment LOL! Appreciate you my friend.

Hell yeah Trey,vinnie has some interesting fills,especially the opening of this one,vinnie said he actually recorded 2,and mixed together, forward an back. I have a hard time playing some dio,I try to play exact,but get irritated when I can't pull it off. Voodoo is one of them,I can play 95% of it but a couple fills get me everytime. Vinny is a pure monster. For me, he's hard as hell to cover. But, live - every time I've seen him, he does the same thing so many of us do. He hits the finer points and obviously if something is iconic (like this intro), he nails it and then plays in the moment. It seems a lot of his fills are just going with what he's feeling live. They are all very much in line with the intent of the song and his original vibe - but he ain't married to anything. I DIG THE SHIT out of that about him dude 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 I'll give Voodoo a listen bud!

Release the drums only or you could try pitching the music up or down (I have never done it because it just ruins the song for me) but you could try it and see if it still allows you to get it through and you're still happy with it? I've always thought that Vinny Appice's drumming had a better groove and was overall better than Carmine's. The fact that Vinny doesn't think that he invented drumming and influenced 99% of rock drummers doesn't hurt either. Besides, I don't know/don't care if Carmine was technically a superior drummer; I'd take a groovier drummer over a technical wizard any day. Case in point : Steve Adler.

Vinny is a humble and way, WAY underappreciated drummer. I've seen them both and I can attest to the fact that Vinny hit harder. That's not taking away from Carmine at all. Dude was doing things that made my head spin but Vinnyl stayed in his lane and just crushed his kit using some of the most unorthodox moves. Pure legend of a drummer.
@@TreyBDrums Great way of putting it. Carmine certainly was a major figure of rock drumming, but he likes to embellish things way too much. His band opening for Led Zep and Bonham complimenting his playing became «I taught Bonham to play triplets». Dude...
Vinny always played for what the song needed, while keeping things interesting with some tasty fills.

Not a glitch - and it's got me sitting here about to take it down. So I could use your two cents. The way I had to do this was ass backwards. I had to cut up the song (Halestorm's version) to make it fit the drums. That took a damn half day. But like a fucker, I didn't catch that section running early. I had rendered this thing 11 or 12 times listening to tempo and just missed it. So it's not the drums doing anything. It's me lining up the Halestorm version with what I did. So, what would you do? I hate the idea of taking it down but it's bugging the fuck out of me and you are the one dude who can understand why.

The one thing that's making me not take it down is I really think the vast majority of the folks who listen to this will click off of it well before the end. Usually about 2 minutes is a total win. But it's still bugging the FUCK out of me 😂😂😂😂😂😂
