  • Let's Explore the Hotel New York | The Art of Marvel at Disneyalnd Paris with the Disney Stranger and SUPER MARVEL FAN DisDee!
Hey there, let me paint the picture for you about this super cool spot - the Disney Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel, nestled right in the heart of Disneyland Paris. So, back in the day, this place kicked off as Disney’s Hotel New York, with its design penned by the superstar architect Michael Graves, who bagged the Driehaus Prize in 2011. Talk about talent, right? Graves threw in a dash of early 20th century Art Deco vibes to really capture the heartbeat and pizzazz of New York City. Picture this: the hotel’s outside looks like a mini Manhattan with all those stylized skyscrapers. It’s been wowing guests since it opened its doors in 1992.
Fast forward to 2017, and Disney’s big boss of experiences, Bob Chapek, lets slip at the D23 Expo that the hotel's getting a major makeover from the geniuses at Walt Disney Imagineering. They decided to jazz it up to Disney’s Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel, turning it into this epic homage to Marvel that finally opened in June 2021. And, oh, they played a bit with the name in July 2022, dropping the apostrophe to simply Disney Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel.
Now, let’s talk about the Marvel makeover - it's like every fan's dream. At the D23 expo in 2019, they dropped the bomb that one of the hotel’s suites would be all about Spider-Man, and the standard rooms would have this cool Iron-Man theme.
But it’s not just about where you crash at night. They've got these two restaurants that are out of this world. The Manhattan Restaurant has this swanky vibe inspired by the Cotton Club but with a Marvel twist, featuring stuff like an Asgardian chandelier - fancy, right? Then there’s the Downtown Restaurant, rocking an art-deco style and plastered with Marvel comics. Need a drink? The Skyline Bar and Bleecker Street Lounge have got you covered with drinks and snacks. And for a bit of fresh air, there’s Bryant Park outside for events, giving you those NYC vibes.
Shopping? Yep, they’ve thought of that too. The New York Boutique sells all sorts of Marvel-themed goodies - clothes, souvenirs, even hotel signature scents and some essentials you might have forgotten to pack.
And if you're hoping to rub elbows with Marvel heroes, the Super Hero Station’s your spot, complete with cool backdrops of Marvel Cinematic Universe scenes. They've got this wicked indoor/outdoor pool with a jacuzzi and pool toys for some splashy fun. And once upon a time, the Empire State Club used to do character breakfasts, where Disney characters would greet you by the lobby.
Lastly, about the location - it's ideally situated super close to Panoramagique and Disney Village, making it easy to hop over and continue the magic.
So, there you have it - a place that's a must-visit for every Marvel and Disney fan, offering a slice of New York and a whole lot of superhero cool.
