Would you guys like to see Elliot take another crack at Crash 3 at some point or another?
Maybe he will improve now that he's older but I swear I will never get tired of "Elliot, Seriously?!"
"Elliot! Seriously!"
"I swear I double jumped!"
Ahhhh yeah, good times man, good times.
i always wondered how my younger self was able to get all platinums in this game...
Probably the same reason why my younger self could defeat the Special Stages in Sonic 2 easily compared to my older self, who cringes at the very thought of trying to go after the Emeralds again.
SomecallmeJohnny
Word. I actually managed to get all A ranks in Sonic Adventure 2 on Gamecube, something I have no interest in pursuing again on the PSN release.
I remember one summer I set out to play through Crash 1-3 and fully complete each one.
I made it my mission to Finish 3 with all platinum relics and gems. It was hell, but I managed it. No idea how I was able to, but it did it.
Seriously, he's not kidding when he says they're hard to get.
crash bandicoot WARPED=good time travel
sonic 06=BAD time travel
of course main reason why it's better(In my opinion at least) it's cause it's simpler and has NO PLOT HOLES. I feel like a time traveling plot CAN work it just has to be simple and straight forward.
Add Sonic Boom to this as well. (which for some reason has time travel)
*****
Not just that. The time travel was just like "Oh hey, here are different time travel places, have fun!" The time travelling wasn't really a story device. It was just kinda there, and we didn't mind...
Time travel as a plot device is fucking hard to use. Considering that Sonic GENERALLY doesn't focus on story at all... yeah, that'd be hard.
"Elliot, Seriously?!" "I swear" "I swear i double-jumped" "Oh my god" Thank you for great review channel, and thank you, for my favorite let`s play series.
I think we all wonder how he would fare. How about another SGB Run with 50% less "Elliot, seriously?!"?
I have beat Crash Bandicoot Warped several times getting all the platinum relics. It's extremely difficult, and honestly not that much more rewarding than just getting all gold since you get the same 105% anyway. But it's kinda cool just to say I did it.
*****
Yeah disappointing that you get nothing extra for getting all platinum.
One of the BEST Crash Bandicoot games EVER!!!!!! It is my personal favorite out of the 3 games. So many things the game did right and I loved it a lot.
It is one of the best ever and I still enjoy it even now. Crash feels right, he's got new moves, bosses are fun to battle, voice acting is great and yeah, there's a LOT of replayability here.
And also, I can pull off a great N. Tropy voice.
Crash 3 is my favourite as well. 1 and 2 are games I need to be in a certain mood to play. Not with 3, I can play that anytime and never get sick of it.
Back when 3's were the best (sometimes), and didn't burn the franchise to the ground.
Mario 3
Sonic 3 & Knux
Zelda 3 (Link to the Past)
Mega Man 3
Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon
Super Metroid (Third Metroid Game)
Shantae 3 (Pirates' Curse) upholds the "3's are good" tradition, but it's a exception nowadays. 3's, instead of being great, are instead pretty bad.
2's are the new "sweet spot" sequel.
1- The First Game. Series trying to find itself.
2- Takes everything that makes the first good, and takes out whatever was bad about 1.
3- Devs get too overambitious trying to top 2 and 3 goes off the rails.
Eh Spyro 2 is my favorite, but Spyro 3 I feel is the better game between them all things considered.
Lmao aw man I was expecting at least one "Elliot Seriously?"
The opening of Crash Bandicoot: Warped is like Sonic Adventure 2
This game realty is a timeless relic of it's time and it's crazy how they used everything they learned from the first two games and applied them here. Yeah, it had a lot of vehicle levels but even with that... The game still managed to be a success. It's pretty crazy what happened to the platforming style of Crash Bandicoot after the PS1 era. Anyway, awesome review!
Crash 3..my fav of them all :3
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped....Simply my favorite PS1 game and one of my favorite Crash games of all time along with Crash 2, CTR and Twinsanity.
Even though I've only played and beaten the game once at a friend's house, I adored this game. This game is that good. One of my favorites for the PS1.
Spyro the Dragon was by far my favourite trilogy, heck Ripto's Rage was the first game I ever owned and completed. You could say it picked up where Crash 3 left off and took PlayStation platforming to the next level with fully explorable 3D worlds with multiple pathways.
Dude you deserve more subscribers
What I'm saying is that his channel is so awesome it should have like 2 million subscribers
Danny Garza If he just wanted to raise his subs he could start making COD videos. However these games are not what this channel is about.
I'm just sitting here, imagining what would happen if Johnny did a Kingdom Hearts Marathon. I think his head would freakin explode because of the complicated plot. XD
I remember playing this game when I was younger, and those Platinum Relics... Oh god, I spent so much time on those levels! But I got them all, and on a side note - I always loved how Spyro and Crash games always had hidden demos for the others' games. Was a nice touch, you know.
I've been waiting so much for this one! Awesome job as always, Johnny! Your reviews makes my day!
The Japanese versions also have secret videos that can be seen by holding down a button combination when you boot the games.
Also, Aku Aku interrupts the game to tell you hints when you release him from a crate, even in the first two games (text-based dialogue in the first game, spoken dialogue in the second and third games).
Johnny's outros are always so considerate to the audience! One of the reasons why I take time out of my schedule to re-watch his old videos too! ^_^ You're so cool Johnny, I wanna be like you! Jolly, smart and with a great sense of humour! :3
No mention of the secret stages? I was expecting you to at least bring up Hot Coco.
Classic Crash > Modern Crash
depends on what you consider modern crash while i don't really like wrath of cortex it's still in the same style of the ps1 games and twinsanity was a good game imo.
megamike15 Twinsanity had a lot of good charm to it, shame i skipped out on it since Wrath ruined it for me
Lithium Flower
That's because Twinsanity actually tries to be a new experience...and it has a great story tagged on as well.
Man Crash 3 was the best thing ever and this video just brought back some sweet sweet memories.
To me this is one of the best games ever made. It's so creative with the level design, challenge design, even the death are unique and funny.
I think the Crash series really helped me develop as a kid. I had a total blast playing this back in the day and hope that maybe, one day, someone will do a HD remake of these games with better graphics to maybe one day give it to my kids.
Windwalker it will be possible in 30th of June! You gotta have a PS4 to play it
These games are fucking gorgeous.
The only console I had and grew up with as a child was a PS1. So watching your Crash reviews just hit me with so much nostalgic memories. Thank you. :)
2:01 The Polar Bear is your friend now! That’s adorable!
Oh god, I freaking LOVED this game when I was young. When we weren't playing Spyro, we were playing this damn game. I cannot tell you how many times we completed this game, and it might be the only game I actively tried to 100%, and may have been the only one that I did 100%. It was the first (and only) Bandicoot game I've played, but I have really fond memories of this game. When my twin sister and older brother would play this game, we would always be on standby for each of us to play our favorite levels. I always loved and played the china wall running levels, and my sister and me would swap between the water levels. My brother usually got the bosses, and more difficult levels like the underwater sections and lava levels. Ah, good times.
+KatieFrog217 Oh Spyro :) Remember those little blue dudes that kept stealing the dragon eggs?
Adam Anouer Yes! The egg theifs, and they pissed me off to no end because they were hard to catch :I
Hahaha! Yeah I know right especially when you had to chase them on those super speed tracks. Mind you I'm not going to lie you know the one thing I loved about Year of the Dragon? In the last world where instead of dropping eggs they had an absolute ton of Gems instead.
This is my favorite of the PS1 Crash Trilogy
This was an awesome video, everything was really in depth. Can't wait to watch the Crash Team Racing video.
Here we are. The Crash game I grew up with. Well, I didn't own it, but my brother and I played it all the time at my cousins house. They didn't have a memory card, so we played through the whole game without any saves, multiple times. Great memories, good review, I'd like to get copies of the original 3 crash games myself.
This is definitely one of my favourite games of all time! Love the review Johnny! ^_^
Speaking of Platinum Relics, I will agree they are very hard to accomplish, but with enough retry's you should be able to pull them off no problem! First time I did it was as a Let's Play and trust me, some level were frustrating. (I actually did it twice because i'd practice before hand and it still took a while the second time xD) except for the Tiger levels, i'd always love speedrunning them :)
+SomecallemeJohnny Hey Johnny, are you considering doing a Kingdom Hearts or Mega Man X marathon?
Ahh, Crash 3 it's still one of best platformers that i ever play. It's all i need, for me and in the country where i live and my old not knowledge of happens in the video game world it was one of the last Crash Banticoot platformer that it got the series, after that Crash Team racing came and it was a great time to pass with my friends trying to beat the sh*t out of each other in races, or that combat mode that it had.
To me this was the last entry of the Crash Banticoot series, until a LOT of years later (about 2009!!!) where i came to the knowledge that warped wasn't the last entry of the series BUT that they got worse as the time went on... im still scare to play then because i love SO MUCH the first trilogy that, i don't want to think about what happen to the series after it. I just stayed with the original trilogy and never touched a new Crash Banticoot game that it isn't from the first trilogy or Crash Team racing
Also I love your videos, keep it up :)
I'm not sure about it, but this could be the first videogame I ever played! At least as far as I can remember.
The first one I ever played was Dora the Explorer: Lost City. Still haven't beat it since by the time I knew how, my disk was too badly damaged to play.
Warped is the best Crash Bandicoot of all 3 "old" games!
Never seen any your videos before this one... good stuff. Sub'd.
Hey I just wanted to thank you for some of your more recent PS1/Castlevania previews. Because of your looking into of Rondo of Blood I have since acquired a copy of Dracula X Chronicles for my PSP and I am having a blast with it. Keep up the good work :)
After your done reviewing the rest of the Crash games you should totally play Spyro next those two are like best pals they even had crossover games together
Can your next Marathon be about Rayman :D its just an idea
Agreed. That would be a good one. I'd also like to see Johnny do The Spyro Triology once he gets the chance to do so.
Nitro Rad is a great CZcamsr who has covered the Rayman series, but his reviews are pretty simple due to their age
This was one of the greatest games I've ever played in my lifetime.
An absolute classic.
Keep it up! I love everything you do.
after crash bandicoot, can you review the metal gear series?
PAL Cover-Art > NTSC-U Cover-Art
ive actually recently started playing warped again when you started these reviews :D
That musical track at the end of the video...sooo sweet.
"Long videogaming sessions..." so that's what thre kids were calling it back then.
How the hell did I not know about that sodding hidden box from Cold Hard Crash?! Thank you so much, Johnny!!
OMG! I've waiting so long for this review! This was my game back in the day.
Now review Musashi!
Johnny, get to Spyro NOW!
Yo.
I've been watching your reviews for a while now. In all honesty I just put them on while I get ready for work because I've watched so many other of the more popular reviewers. What do you do different?
You're no bullshit. There's no fifteen minute intro song, no shitty CG effects, no constant voice in the back throwing horrid jokes every chance it can.
You review video games and don't expect the viewer to be entertained by material made for ten year olds. Keep up the mature, to the point work you are doing. You're cutting a damn good name for yourself.
This was an awesome review Johnny can't wait to get even more of a nostalgia rush next time.
I was never a big fan of the motorcycle stages as I couldn't control the bike properly. Still my favourite game in the PS1 era though.
Crash Bandicoot and Spyro were pretty much my childhood heroes, and I still love them. Those were the days...
My second favorite Crash. (After the first) adore the Crash games. Made my childhood and still playin' even now.
I grew up with spyro and crash, I like spyro a little more but both give me a lot of nostalgic memories. I can't wait for you to review the first 3 spyro games cuz those are the best
Are you going to play/review the Spyro games?
Tjeu van Boxtel What's up with people answering Johnny's questions for him?
Because he won't do it himself
#shotsfired
but for real it's probably b/c he said in the vid that he would so they just told him what he told them.
The Platinum relics are nothing in comparison to the downright mythical Developer Times, yeah, good luck getting those
That Crash Bandicoot theme will never leave my head. DAMN YOU CRASH BANDICOOT AND YOUR CATCHY THEME SONGS.
I'll be waiting for the Spyro reviews I mean Spyro 2 was my childhood game and I like to hear your review of it
SomecallmeJohnny- Are you one of the guys from The Super Gaming Brothers?; If so, I had no idea that you even had your own CZcams page until now
Great review.
Yeah... Are you also aware of BrainscratchComms? John's also a co-commentator on that channel
SGB is actully Johnny's second channel. He owns it. It's just his LP channel
+mymansora14
Yeah, somecallmejohnny is his main channel. Huh, I never thought about the fact that sonme people may know him from SGB more than his main channel.
Although having said that, somecallmejohnny's show was originally called the Super Gaming Bros., but then Elliot got caught up at school or university or something, and Johnny ended up being on his. Thus, henceforth his reviews were called "Johnny Vs", not "SGB".
And then a second channel was made that carried over the name "Super Gaming Bros.", and now because it was a "Let's Play" channel, there was incentive for there to be the whole group present and thus the "brothers".
Can't wait for the CTR review! One of my favorite games. It was my first experience on any system after the SNES, and the first game I EVER one-hundred percented! Keep up the good work!
another awesome review john! :) cant wait for the next one! :P
best crash ever
Hey Johnny I want to say congratulations on nearly hitting 100,00 Subs. But what I wanted to say is that I had another idea. I thought that when you have finished with the Crash Bandicoot marathon, or just when you have time. You could (of course on you decision) to do a month of Mario 2. Where you take a look at the 3D Mario games such as Super Mario 64(and briefly at it's DS remake), Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World. It's just a thought, you don't have to do it.
I completely understand how you feel about the platinum relics, I had to do flaming passion so many times with frame perfect accuracy for me to get the time I needed, and even then I just barely made it.
I never got why i see no big youtubers review Crash of the titans.
Because no one likes to mention that those particular installments exist.
One of my first Crash games i've ever played.. man so many memories. Although Crash 3 maybe the easiest in the original trilogy I had alot more fun and there's alot more to do in this game that in the first two. Great review, looking forward to Team Racing.
The only thing that's really hard about the first two was gem finding, if you could avoid them technically the first two would be easier
My favorite Crash game. The first one was a bitch to fully complete and second one was yeah a very very very solid platform game but it did have times of frustration. Warped however felt like the perfect Crash game.
Agree completely about the dual shock. I remember my first experience of it being the first Gran Turismo game. Vibrating on impacts and analogue steering.. awesome memories.
0:05 I love That music
The third game is my favorite
Can anyone pronounce N. Tropy's name right? (I still love ya like a brother, Johnny) It's pronounced Entropy. En Trah Pee. I know i'm a geek.
+Minumu5e Yes, it does. Nefarious Tropy. N. Tropy for short. I think between Crash 3 and the later Crash games made by Eurocom, VV, Activison, etc they only say Nefarious Tropy a few times.
Yay! CTR, the game that put racing games on the MAP for me! :D
Sadly, I can't really play it anymore for fear of my eyes bleeding ever since I started playing the graphically superior Mario Kart 7.
Still a great racing title, though! :D
well both games has rough around the edges so getting use to it should take about 1 min
Crash Bandicoot Warped was AMAZING! I can’t think Naughty Dogs enough for putting this game into the best of the best third Crash Bandicoot game back in the late 1990’s
SO MUCH NOSTALGIA WITH THIS ONE!!!
Can't wait to play it again on the Crash Bandicoot remaster for PS4! :)
C R A S H I S B A C K B O Y S
I never played the original crash games...but honestly, Mario 64 seems so much better...
really the 2 series dont really compare. Crash had very different rules, gameplay and tone than Mario 64. imo, i liked Crash more. but thats not a stab at Mario 64 as i feel that was a very well designed game in its own right. i just prefer Crash.
3Bismyname Well as platforming goes in general, I think i just prefer Mario 64's open worlds and areas to explore rather than crash's hallways...They are very different games though, I can see why some people would prefer crash...
While I respect Mario 64 for being revolutionized into 3D gaming, the game has aged very poorly.
The later levels were getting repetitive and the controls & camera are so outdated. Not to mentioned the 100 completions is an chore to do.
Mario 64 is an decent game. But I'll take the Crash Trilogy games, Sypro the Dragon trilogy or any 3D platforming games over Mario 64 anyday. And I rather play any 3D Mario games over 64. Yes. Even Sunshine.
I've replayed Mario 64 not too long ago. Still a fantastic game. Yes the control and camera show their age, but the level design is still some of the best in a 3D platformer. Being able to skip 50 stars makes for a comfortable progression structure that's accessible and keeps the game timeless.
Would I say I like it more than the Crash and Spyro trilogy? Depends on the specific games really. I'd take it over Crash 1, Crash 2 and Spyro 2 for multiple reasons. Crash 1 is excruciatingly unforgiving when going for 100%, Crash 2 feels stiff and has questionable level design, and Spyro 2 meanders a lot and focuses too much on side-attractions. I would tie it with Spyro 1 and Spyro 3, and below Crash 3 though.
Haha thanks for covering crash. I got alot of nostalgia from this. Definetly one of the best platformers.
Alot of memories with crash bandicoot especially the wrath of cortex for ps2,it was a gift that also came with rocket power beach bandits lol oh man the times i spent on those two games
Tbh, I like Warped, but I liked Crash 2 better. It just felt like a more pure experience for me. It had all the improvements over Crash 1, with none of 3's gimmicks.
The Beaverhouse Especially the control,in this game Crash has his heaviness feeling from the first game again so now it's a bit slightly slippery jumping the other way now which is why I prefer the 2nd since it has you have control over his jumps if you need to turn around and it doesn't have the heaviness from the first nor the third. So yeah 2nd game is the best!
I'm so glad someone else feels this way. I just beat this game today (got 104 percent... did NOT get the gold relics lol) for the first time and I felt that 2 was the better experience. I was NOT fond of the whole time trial aspect and it being mandatory for getting the good ending.
Of course I played 2 first, I don't play my games out of order. I played 1 and 2 for the first time this past year, and just beat 3
Aw, I was really hoping for a Spyro marathon. Crash and Spyro were among the titans that made the PS1 so great. I grew up on that little purple dragon, and to this day the original trilogy still holds two of my favorite games of all time.
I really do recommend the PS1 Spyro games, John, more specifically the second the third games. They've got charm, fun challenges, and *phenomenal* soundtracks. You should give them a look.
Generally speaking, I agree with you completely. Spyro 2 and 3 were amazing games, and their soundtracks were great. Though to be fair, I like Spyro 1 more than Spyro 2, because out of the whole trilogy Spyro 2 has the most backtracking. An expected feature for this type of game, granted, and Spyro 1's lack of it could be jarring, but I would rather not have it than have too much. Spyro 3 strikes the best balance.
YamiShadow Kitty
Good points all around. Though personally, I didn't mind Spyro 2's backtracking too much because it's got a very "Metroid" way of approaching it, in that you only do it when you've learned something new and now you'll have access to a new area or challenge whenever you go back.
But I can totally see how it would get annoying for some. (I'm looking at you, Fracture Hills.)
i love the body slam just cuz the derpy face crash makes XD
i love your reviews!
This was my first Crash game, and I have fond memories of it, and watching my cousins play it.
My second favourite Crash game. Right behind Twinsanity!
I can't believe this is 6 years old now... I only thought these reviews came about about 2-3 years ago
Gotta love how one gem was hidden away behind getting at least all gold relics, not to mention 2 secret stages I didn't know about before 2010. This is stuff you either find on ure accident or gamefaqs, like I did. SeemsGood
You should review the Jak and Daxter series next!! Love the videos!
this one takes me back...aah I LOOOOOOOOVED this game
I'll be picking this up again on my Vita in a couple of months :D
Not a bad review. I just downloaded Crash 3 last night and had a blast with all the nostalgia flowing back. Definitely one of the best games to play as a kid who only had a PlayStation!
Ah, those platinum relics. I've aced this game SO many god-damn times, and for the first few goes, they were near impossible sometimes. But - I can say that nowadays, every time I replay this, I platinum every single stage pretty easily. I've played this waaaaaaaay too much.
It's nice to see you on other videos Caddy :)
For the love of fuck, tell us what you are hiding! You're up to something, I know!
I haven't played in so long i probably couldn't even get gold...
***** Hahah dude get ready for THAT LOADING SCREEN. YOU KOW THE ONE. WE ALL KNOW THE ONE
Sir, you are a god among men!
