It was a favorite meal of theirs and something city folk would not have been privy to. We might even consider that they were actually mocking the urban culture. This would fit in with the series' meme, writ large, where TBH's down-home common sense often trumps that of the city folk. Plus: Comedy.

I think it straightforward would be a communication that the food offered by granny would have been considered as "robust" by hillbilly's and that they also were entirely unaware of the common food of urbanites.
'BH' was consistently entertaining with a range of viewers that included adults and children. The tv channel hated the show, considering it banal. But it constantly rated the top show every year.
It was in the Top 10 every year (as was Green Acres) but the network terminated them both in order to appeal to a "younger" audience with more "socially relevant" shows (to compete with "All in the Family). Of course, nothing dates worse than yesterday's "socially relevant" humor/satire; meanwhile, BH and Green Acres remain absolutely hilarious.
