Personally I like the sound of the Lionel GS 2 whistle better. I had both engines but the GS 4 had problems, (some sounds kept cutting out), and I returned it. They are both terrific engines however.
There is just something about the color scheme of the SP passenger trains. I am currently putting together a set of cars but don't yet have a steam enging to pull it (have a Williams diesel).

I noticed you have the MTH GE Hybrid, this engine is impossible to find at this time. Do you have video review planed or completed? The Southern Pacific Daylight is a beautiful running engine, looks great on your layout. Do you really have two of them?
I know the third car on one of the train's that lights are out is probably not on purpose but is kind of neat because it is like a Pullman sleeper, all the lights would be out if everyone was asleep

Yeah um whoever thought up the idea that the gs locomotives NEVER ran on the shasta route, either lied about it or aint got there history right, the GS-4s-6s worked the route often pulling mail-passenger trains and on occasion the Shasta Daylight.

It is one of the nicest that Lionel has ever put out.

Yes, it's a nice whistle, but they don't need to blow it every time it's in view. I would LOVE to hear just the chuffing for once.

The whistle is correct you must be thinking about the GS-3s and GS-6s had big boy whistles. GS-2 4410 actually had that whistle.
