The irony of the Kong movies falling down. Loving these videos, especially how they make me aware of releases that I have no idea exist!
2018, Pre-Criterion Collection Set, God it was hard AF getting the Showa Era back then
It really was! Especially with two of them only being available on long out of print DVDs at the time, a little over half available on Blu-ray with some of those Blu-rays dipping in and out of print so good luck getting them, the Criterion set was a godsend! Still worth hanging on to some of those old editions for the additional audio tracks/alternate cuts though.
@@zaranyzerak Yeah the Criterion Collection doesn't have The Dubs for some of The showa Era Films, Part of the reason is because well the Dub doesn't exist for the Japanese cuts, and the other reason was because of Legal issues Toho had.
I am super excited to see what criterion does with the Godzilla films!
You can never have enough Godzilla!!!!
Scream factory got the license for the 76 remake of king kong which includes the theatrical cut and the TV extended cut.
Yep, definitely planning to pick that one up!
You have big collection. Thanks for sharing
Looks like that green Godzilla set is out of print :(
Sweet "Godzilla" stash. I got back into Godzilla when I was watching James Rolfe's second "Cinemassacre's Monster Madness" which was a marathon of all of the Godzilla movies reviewed (yes, including 1997 version). As of now, I have a lot of the Showa era, practically the whole Hesai era (I only have a DVD rip of "Godzilla 1985"), some of the Millennium era, and the 2014 reboot which I too loved. If I had one nitpick, I'd say Aaron Taylor Johnson as the main hero, his performance was just flat as a pancake. But everything else was excellent. As far as "Universal Monsters" go, I only have the "Frankenstein" Legacy collection, the rest are just the stand alone versions.
Don't forget that there's also the 1943 version of "Phantom of the opera" that's also part of the Universal Classic Monsters series that you'll probably need to get.
Annoyed Michael Yes, I know.
Great news we finally have news about the new Godzilla box set by criterion
Yep! I posted about it over on my Facebook and Twitter pages the second I heard the news. It's already up for pre-order too: amzn.to/32V1X6K
If you can find a copy I would suggest picking up The Bride from the 80’s that stared Sting as Dr. Frankenstein and the guy who played the Kurgen in highlander as “The Monster” and Warwick Davis as someone who befriends the monster
While it isn't too good of a film, I suggest picking up King Kong Lives, the sequel to King Kong (1976)
Oh, I plan to get both when I get around to it.
"These two are not out on Blu-Ray, we are waiting to get them. It looks like it might not be happening and that sucks." Referring to The Invisible Man and Creature Legacy Collection sets.
If only you had waited another week or two to do this video haha.
Wha.....well fuck me. Took 'em long enough!
Needless to say, I'm OVERJOYED to be proven wrong on that point! :D
Sadly it looks like there’s only going to be two more chapters in legendary's monster-verse, cause I’m pretty sure that they won’t have the rights after 2020, especially with Toho now doing there own Cinematic universe, and it sounds like when that happens they won’t want to share the big G with anyone else, and even though I have been digging the legendary verse so far I think I would rather see what Toho has to offer.
Thought id say a bit thanks for bringing the bbc adaptation of count dracula to my attention. Never knew it existed and when i watched it was completely blown away. Really enjoying your collection videos both old and new, great job:))
RIGHT??? That BBC version is soooo good. It was brought to my attention by a bunch of viewers when I was doing my Dracula reviews last Halloween and pretty much instantly became a favorite version.
11:09 I'll stick up for that film and say it's better than the two wannabe mcu films we got
