  • As part of the first Family Night Out, focusing on the themes of Agri-Tourism and Chhukha Diversity Fest, Dasho Ugen Tsechup generously agreed to share his experiences, observations, and insights into the challenges encountered by the private sector in Bhutan.
    Dasho Ugen, a graduate of the renowned St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi, embarked on his entrepreneurial journey by joining his family business at a young age. Recognized as a visionary par excellence, he possesses excellent oratory skills and a modern outlook, showcasing his quick learning abilities. Dasho Ugen played a pivotal role in initiating numerous businesses across diverse sectors, such as Cement, Ferro-Alloys, Automobile Distribution, Mining, Ferro-Silicon, Fruit Juice & Milk Processing, establishing Zimdra as a leading Corporate House in Bhutan. His latest venture, Bhutan Soya Proteins, focused on manufacturing textured soya protein, further solidifies his entrepreneurial prowess.
    Throughout his career, Dasho Ugen has held significant leadership roles in various organizations, including President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry, President of Bhutan Chamber of Commerce & Industries, and General Secretary of Bhutan India Friendship Association. Presently, he serves as the Honorary Consul of Thailand to Bhutan and holds the position of President at FIFA-Bhutan.
    Beyond corporate responsibilities, Dasho Ugen is an avid golfer and sports enthusiast, with a particular interest in Golf, Football, and Archery. He extends his influence into social service through education initiatives and contributes to providing safe drinking water supplies in rural areas. The development and well-being of rural communities hold a special place in his heart, reflecting his commitment to addressing these crucial issues.
