Watching this again after the death of my mother... She was Arab-Sicilianu & Slovak, but according to my research I'm ye Iswä (or Catawba native) on my father's side. He was only around when it was convenient for him, but I feel such ties to my indigenous culture - especially during times of mental and emotional duress as current... My Mammala was always very supportive of that connection, reminding me of my heritage when I doubted because of my white passing quality. I get teary eyed just as much each time I watch this video, I'm just as joyous each time I watch this. Thank you for sharing this blessing with us 💋🧡🫂

seeing you're an ex JW makes me emotional. my great grandmother was cherokee, she joined the JW's and my grandma (as well as some of her siblings) followed. my father was raised in it and so eventually was i. many of our closer relatives have died due to drugs, alcohol, and various other health issues- so on top of being isolated as children due to "the faith", we have no connection to our direct family besides memories. my brother and i have done a lot of research, trying to understand where we come from. there is much heartache and generational trauma to work through- but we've managed to find our great uncle who is on the dawes rolls. he is not alive, but my grandmother has told me stories. my father has mentioned wanting to reach out to the cherokee nation to see what we can do to reconnect- it feels like such an injustice for our family to have gone through what they did. no body deserves to feel alone... if we can reconnect, i can't help but feel we'd be putting that piece that was stolen from my family hearts back in it's place. i hope you have found that for yourself, and congratulations on meeting your grandmother

@@JayliWolf I'll have to do some research into that as I don't know enough about the dialects of the Cree Nation (kinda uninformed about all the various nuances...).
