  • Your probably aware that the hood vents on the Jeep JL Wrangler and JT Gladiator are fake and don’t actually allow hot engine air to escape through them. This is especially important when you’re crawling off-road and not much air is traveling through the radiator. These well designed vents will enable hot gases to escape.

    Been a HUGE fan of Motobilt since I met the owner and learned about them about eight years ago at Bantam Jeep Fest when he came there . He and his team have been incredible over the years , if your not paying the extra money for real steel/aluminum products made in the US your really missing out on the quality made parts & fantastic support team they have !!! Your rig looks so much better with those installed !!

      Craig, thanks for your comment. They do look much better than the stock plastic ones. I’m definitely a fan of American made high quality products and Motobilt is all that. Cheers!

    Another great video. Your engine bay looks so clean. I did the mud pit at Hollister and I really need to clean mine.😁

    Nice work! I was wondering if there was a way to drain water from these inner vents in the case of torrential rain. Maybe a plastic valve and tube ?

      With a little DIY that could totally be done. Thanks for watching.

    So how does it drain any rain coming through the vents? Is it all stainless hardware? The vent steel or aluminum? More info next time you make a video please. TIA

      The base has slots in the four corners to allow water to gently drain out. All of the pieces are aluminum (I powder coated mine)and believe the hardware is stainless steel.

    Does your engine run cooler? Were you having an issue with overheating?

    • @santacruzoverlander
      @santacruzoverlander  Před 6 měsíci

      I’ve only driven it one day since the installation so I can’t say yet. The real test will be when moving slow off road and seeing if the electric fan comes on less. I will post a video using a thermal imaging camera shortly.

      No, I haven’t had any overheating issues, but diesels do get hot.

    Does water leak onto the engine?

    • @santacruzoverlander
      @santacruzoverlander  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes water will leak into the engine bay. The bottom water trays have four slots in them to allow a gentle drip inside the bay. Nothing to be concerned about. Think about driving in the rain and puddles. Definitely more water splashing into engine components. Thanks for the question.

    HI! Nice engine and nice color! ...even if it's not the Gladiator like mine...😜 Mine has 33,000 km (Italian😉) how is your engine going? Just think, the factory is 100 km from my house💪. My Gladiator comes standard with the center air intake like your Mojave. Have you improved the cooling with this modification kit?😳

    • @santacruzoverlander
      @santacruzoverlander  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I haven’t had any issues with the diesel engine. I am still waiting to have the high pressure fuel pump replaced from the recall.
      As for the engine cooling. Since it’s winter time I can’t give to a definitive answer yet. I do know that I haven’t been able to get the oil temp to go over 212 degrees F. I will report back with more time behind the wheel and higher outside temps.

    Here's a tip if you'd like me to watch more of your videos....
    When talking to the camera like you were at the end of this video...
    Stop looking at your face on the screen of the camera....
    LOOK AT THE LENS
    If you want to connect with the audience you got to look them in the eye, not over their right shoulder.

      Rich, Thanks for the constructive criticism. I will work on that and not use the front of the camera next time. LOL.
