2700 in one day? You get 40 to 60 per boat usually. 15th July saw 7 boats totalling 427 migrants. We've had 1 and 2 boat crossings this week - This data is public. You should be more concerned about visa overstayers if it's sheer numbers that worry you. We added more than 600'000 people to the country last year through migration - 30'000 came from small boats.

You shouldn’t have to do a deal with the EU as you are a sovereign nation and an Island. Just do what we done in Australia and turn them around and we didn’t care what our neighbouring counties thought. International law says you can claim asylum in the first country you enter. You can’t hop from country to country to pick and choose where you want to claim asylum. Indonesia used to turn a blind eye to the people traffickers but once they started getting stuck with the asylum seekers they soon started to clamp down as well. Zero Tolerance and nothing less.
