very nice. I have a 1982 GE VHS VCR that was barely used - it still has the plastic protective film over the VHS door and front clock display. I'd love to peel it off but, then there is nothing protecting it from being scratched.

I am an old professor from the early 50s and I saw from valvular to mobile phones. You give me Hope in Youth like you. I serviced many vcrs and I use them.
That's sexy I used to have the exact model. Your VCR is cleaner than mine was lol. I love VCRs and video tapes. Everyone is going retro I wish they would bring them back.
Great video recorder in great condition. It's nice to watch it unpack. I love the smell of the machines and cassettes and discs. I just bought cassettes and DVDs. Go to flea markets every weekend looking for it. Love your videos. Greetings
"Nice find Natalie" ! That's usually the problem when VCR'S haven't been used 30 some years. Probably wouldn't hurt to replace the belts and check the grease along the tape guides. Great video Natalie !! "Take Care Dear" !!
Excellent i have been a fan of video cassette recorders since 1982 I still have my first one a Sony SL-2000 Betamax still working and to see a young person interested in this technology after so many years is really gratifying. 👍
I remember my first VCR and it was 2500 dollars in 1981 About 10,000 dollars in todays money The video rental store opened and you had to have a credit card They put a 500 dollar hold on your card The yearly fee for membership was 50 dollars, about 200 in today's money. They had 40 PG,G,and R titles, and about 300 X rated in the back half of the store behind a bead doorway and huge signs telling people no one under 18 was allowed You were allowed to rent 2 tapes maximum. Basically only the 1% owned VCRs And the adult section was sold out every night. So many families came in and the mom and children would get a Disney movie or something PG and the dad would sneak into the back. I miss those days My first VCR was GE and it had a 7 button wired remote Remote control was wired Wireless didn't come out till 1983 But you could push play, FF,RW,eject, pause, tv/VCR, and power The channels were all set using dials and wheels. All analog. You had I think 12 stations you could set
In our country, when there was still the USSR, VCRs were also very expensive. People traded their apartment or car to get a VCR in return. I wasn’t born yet, so I didn’t encounter this. Adult acquaintances told me about this, and I heard these stories from other bloggers on CZcams.
@@NatalieRetroStuff This was also the case in the first half of the 1980s in all today's post-communist countries. In the second half of the 1980s, VCRs became a bit cheaper, but they were still expensive, costing several salaries. In 1986, half a million private video recorders were in operation in communist Poland. The cheapest ones cost $200, the E 180 cassette cost about $10 and the average wage was $20. In Germany alone, 30% of households had a VCR at that time and average models cost DM 2000, i.e. an average salary.
A very first _(more elaborate)_ unboxing video on your channel! And *over 10 minutes long!* Awesome showcase of unboxing, troubleshooting the VCP and playing tapes on it while also rewinding/pausing/forwarding and showing the slight issues it has; kinda showcased a more faulty reality for 1980s/1990s folks xd. Great video, as always!!! 🎉
I still have my twenty year old VCR. It's one of the last ones made, so it's direct drive (no rubber belts). It's about half the size as your VCR. The front is about the same width as yours, but the width from front to back is about half.
To find one still new In the box, Is amazing. I would get a full service on It, before You put a tape Into It, This can cause all sorts of damage. New Belts, clean mode switch, re-grease everything. I still have My 6 Head Super VHS player. I do this every 5 Years, and changed the heads for new once In that time. Still going strong. Some VHS films are still not on DVD, and some never will be. Even though I have digitized the most of them Especially the Pre-Certs, Total Uncuts. Enjoy your experience over the next few years. Thanks for sharing Natalie.
Nice, demo. Pretty lady! The reason why these get finicky often is due to grease that got hard. Oil that went away. Belts that get loose or break, and other parts, often the plastic ones, that break. Other problem with any electronics over 5 years old is that the capacitors get weak, creating operating problems, sound and picture problems, and often making the unit not power up or knock out another electronic part in the process. . Shango66 does some very interesting repairs on very old stuff as well.
There are light sensors that detect tape end. If you have the cover open light from your lamps might hit the sensors if the light comes from certain directions and the player won't work properly. Better screw the cover back on!
I want it since its multi system and my Sony Multi System VCR is in a shop and might be in for long time because of broken gear. Will get it back when part is found and here is brand new one. I am jealous.
Great find! Try to clean de mode switch and the rew issues should be solved. Also check the iddler gear not to slip if has a rubber instead teeth gear.
Great job, Natalie!!! You are a very talented Electronics person!!! Why were you not BAREFOOT like you were a few videos ago? You will get better traction on the floor BAREFOOT than in your socks.

Nice machine! i always liked those simpler playback decks better. always too many damn buttons on the others, also it has no clock flashing 00:00. nobody ever set the clock on the VCR:D
Nice, Sharp made some good VCR's, but 2000, they came up with junk, VCR's made during the late 1980's and 1990's were the better ones, Just like Panasonic, JVC, and so on came a time they wanted to save money, and came with Junk that would not last even 3 or so months. So yes you did purchase a great VCR. Make sure you use good quality tapes, like TDK, Panasonic, Memorex etc, avoid Goldstar, Polaroid, Kodak (The ones with a cheaper made shell and the front case shows a picture of a family.) HS Series as they will ruin or damage your VCR, I have had some that almost damaged my head, so i threw them in the dump.
Got news for you sweetie. Those DVDs won't play in your used VCR. No way is that thing new. And the grease on the special cams and gears is probably so sticky from laying around for 40 years that I doubt you will easily get it reliably working. You can send it to a repair shop and get it back in tip-top shape for about $600 in parts and labor. (Recap, some transistors need replacing, and all the belts and idlers). BTW, don't touch the edge of the head like that. Just leave it alone.

Great video! I have to ask out of curiosity. What makes this unit a player and not a recorder? I saw a record button on it. Is there no tuner in it?
It says “video cassette player” on it, so I put it that way in the title. In the comments, someone has already noticed that it does not have a tuner.
Wow love that player and you're good in trying to work it again! Subscribed! ❤🔥
