Hi and thank you for taking the time to comment on our video.
As a channel dedicated to the cruising industry, the naming of the video refers to the name given to cruises around the islands of Britain and Ireland and refers solely to the geographical name and has is no reference to geopolitics.

    • @cruisehols
      @cruisehols  Před rokem +1

@@zuppymac Thanks again for commenting. Throughout the video I use Britain and Ireland, the comment you replied to asks "have you enjoyed a cruise around the UK and Ireland", the title of the video states "you should cruise around the UK and Ireland".
The only time the British Isles is used is for the name of the cruise itinerary option which is the name going to cruises of the region.
So to try and clear it up once again, this is a cruise channel, using the name of a cruise itinerary to talk about a cruise itinerary.
Hopefully that clears things up, if not, I at least hope you found the content of the video of interest and maybe it gave you some inspiration to cruise around this part of the world

Just got back yesterday from a 12 day circumnavigation of the U.K. on Regal Princess, absolutely very enjoyable and the weather was very kind to us so that was a bonus.

Hi Lee and Jan and thanks for taking the time to comment.
I've got to say that I am a bit jealous of you however! We were booked onto the Regal in 2020, but it got cancelled for obvious reasons and would love to have a cruise on her.
What a great time to go on your cruise as well- blue skies and calm seas.

All the times I have cruised it has always been visits to other countries, until now. I am cruising the British Isles in May and really looking forward to visiting Cities in my own country I have never been to before. I seem to get a negative response when tell people where I am going, but having just watched this I agree with all of the 10 reasons.

Hi Jacqui and thank you for taking the time to comment.
So many people forget just how lucky we are to have such diversity right on our doorstep.
With travel difficult recently, I got to travel the UK a bit and go places I always wanted to but had always put off.
They all lived up to expectation so I am sure you will have a great getaway!
Thanks for the feedback on the video, its always appreciated.

As I understand it the whole of Ireland is in the British Isles but only Northern Ireland is part of Britain. The southern part of the island of Ireland is Eire.

Hi Shirley and thanks for taking the time to comment. Great Britain is basically the countries of England, Scotland and Wales, with Northern Ireland been part of the United Kingdom.
As you say the Republic of Ireland is very much a separate and independent country.

I appreciate it's a new user of an old expression but you must understand the residual effect of the colonization of Ireland that that expression invokes.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to comment. 's hard to call the British Isles anything other than the British Isles, as that is what it is.
Hopefully, your comment was made before watching the video as you will have seen and heard that at no point do we mention Ireland as been part of the British Isles.
We fully understand the historical connotations of the term regarding both the north and south of Ireland and so would never claim either the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland (or the Island of Ireland) to be part of Britain.
I just wanted to clear that up for anyone reading your comment, as I am sure you will already know from watching the video.
      Thanks again,

I did a 10 day British isles cruise through NCL in May 22 and it was spectacular. My only complaint was the limited amount of time in each port, as there was so much to explore and do. It was a good survey, and I would love to go back to Europe to explore these cities more in depth.

Hi Dave and thank you for taking the time to comment.
I'm glad to hear that you love visiting these shores on a cruise holiday, hopefully the weather stayed good for you!
Sorry to hear about your lack of time in port, that is always a frustration of our when cruising. You would think you would get plenty of time when on a British Isles cruise as the ports are all relatively close together and most are right on the coast and straight in/ straight out.

Ok, number 1, get rid of that music, it’s taking away from this video. We are in the planning stages of a cruise around the UK, nothing helpful in this video until number 2. Sorry, I know you were trying to be helpful

Hi and thanks for taking the time to comment. We have made a number of changes since this was published including getting rid of the music I think you are referring to in-between points.
I'm glad you at least got some use from the video but if you have any questions about visiting the UK, I would be glad to answer and hopefully I may be able to help with your planning.

The term the British Isles is an outdated Geographical term that is not recognised by the Irish Government nor by the Majority of Irish people living in Ireland.

      Hi Markus,
This is something that has already been covered in the video and the comments so I will just explain it quickly.
This is a cruise channel, and we are discussing cruises given the name of a British Isles cruise that call into ports around Britain but also Ireland, Northern Ireland even France and Belgium.
We are not discussing the politics, history or any other aspect of the name, just the cruise industry for what the channel is dedicated to.
Hopefully if you watch the videos, that will be apparent.

Ireland isn't part of the British Isles.
Anyone who used the term 'British Isles' with reference to Ireland is making a political statement, and not a neutral geographic one.
    Just like calling Derry Londonderry.
    It's simply British imperialist propaganda.

Hi Spencer and thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm sure then, that you will have appreciated that nowhere in the video does it mentioned Ireland, north or south, as been part of the British Isles.

@@cruisehols Your video shows pictures of Belfast and Dublin, and your video description and transcript refer to Irish destinations as part of a British Isles cruise.

    • @cruisehols

Hi Spencer and thanks for getting back to me and sorry for any confusion. Ireland is quite close to Britain with only a sea between, so on a cruise, many ships will call into Irish ports, as it mentions in my video.
Its similar to ships calling in to Mexico or Canada on a US cruise or calling into France or Morocco on an Iberian cruise.
As mentioned in the video, it is one of the great things of doing a British Isles cruise as you also get to experience a bit of Europe as well.

@@cruisehols It still sounds as though this video is presenting Ireland as part of the British Isles.
Yes, Ireland is close by. But so is France. I don't think many viewers or holidaymakers on a cruise would confuse France with Britain, but many, many British citizens do mistakenly believe that Ireland is part of Britain/the UK/the British Isles. And this video simply reinforces this misconception.

    • @cruisehols
      @cruisehols  Před 7 měsíci +1

Hi and thanks for replying again. I am sure that many in Britain do confuse things, especially of the older generation but it isn't something that I have confused or that has been mentioned in this video.
It's not really fair to complain about my video which doesn't do the thing you are saying could be done by somebody else if they so happen to come across it.
Maybe people with those views would be educated by this video or by a similar one I did at czcams.com/video/wdNi_9-gFAg/video.html
it just depends how negatively/positively you want to think about things/people.
      Darren
