    Always look forward to your videos, and this one was just as great as all the others. I will be in my second year of my school psych program next year and looking for internships in a year from now. Would you consider being a special education teacher as a unique trait that helps me stand out? I am currently in my 5th year as a special education teacher and i just wonder if this would help me or interviewers may see this as being too geared towards teaching rather than school psychology.

      I think that's amazing experience to have as a school psychology student! Many school psychologists don't have teaching experience so it makes it more difficult to get teacher buy in and understand what goes on in the classroom. You'll also have the upper hand in classroom/behavioral management and academics so it's an all-around plus. I would definitely use your experience as a sped teacher coupled with your school psychology training as your "specialty"

    When you mean internships, does this also include community service type of work? Are your internships paid? It kinda sucks because if I'm doing research, then I would get paid. If I was doing something applied (ie hotline work) then I wouldn't :/

      She's a school psychology intern so most school psychology programs have a year long intership period before they are eligible to apply for their school psychologist liscense. As far as I know most school psychology interns do get paid (its usually specified on the program website) Hope this helps! :)

      Like Julia said, this internship is part of my three year school psychology program. Thankfully most of the internships in my area pay a stipend (usually 15-25k) and provide awesome hands on training. It's not much but I can't complain, especially when there are districts that take free labor 😮

    Does internship usually start in August, when the school year starts, and end at the end of the school year?

    • @TiffanyLee
      @TiffanyLee  Před 2 lety +1

      Typically, yes! I had two additional weeks of training before the start of the school year

    Do you know anyone that didn't get an internship? Does that happen?

    • @TiffanyLee
      @TiffanyLee  Před 3 lety +2

      Personally, I haven't met anyone that hasn't gotten an internship but I know it was pretty competitive. People who don't get an offer in a paid district may have to look at unpaid positions (which really sucks but it still puts you in line for a job)
