I can see why most of the people are dissatisfied with the ending. But this drama is very realistic in my pov. Career and love can be maintained together but with lots of effort. When the effort is missing it's natural to break up, so that both of them could work on themselves better emotionally. We know that the two love each other, and hopefully the feelings aren't changed. She still wears those shoes (despite her giving excuses) and the ending was very happy and bubbly- like how their relationship was. It's an open ending where we can imagine how the plot ends ourselves. Very realistic.
And Jinu and Haena had broken up after they talked to each other,, they're not the main couple to it makes sense why it was abrupt. But we know what we need to know. Their breakup is also realistic.
I think the writer did a great job. It's not the typical; "no matter what happens the leads will end up together and everything and everyone is happy" kind of drama. If that happened, it would have looked forced. This is the best ending that a 16 ep realistic drama could ever have.
PS: it's true that people like to watch dramas that are happy and dreamy and too good to be true to escape our reality. But, once in a while, we need dramas like this so we can relate to it emotionally.

For me, the ending is very clear. They may have broken up and been physically apart for2 years, but their hearts never skipped a single heartbeat for each other. This is why they instantly felt comfortable with each other as if nothing had happened in the past. This time Ah Jeongha has collected herself and fulfilled her dreams. She is now ready to accept his love wholeheartedly, that you can actually see how happy her eyes are meeting Sa Hyejun again and the shoe is a dead giveaway of that despite what she said! Sa Hyejun is initially kind of feeling his way around but you can certainly feel the underlying tones in the way they speak with each other. Love is in the air again and it's the right time now. I am perfectly happy with that ending...

There are other noteworthy things like the fact that even though they are both his exes the way he treats her is so different from the way he talked to Ji-Ah, the way he instantly smiles at her, how their conversation and friendly banter is not only reminiscent of their dinamic throughout their relationship but also the way they talked to each other when they first met, letting us think that if things start the same way but with different conditions (Jeongha being in a place where she is comfortable with being open emotionally and receiving love) they will surely get back together
And this meeting is under sunny skies.
This drama has a good ending. Why? because it is very realistic. There are some friends(even your close one) that has a special feelings on your partner but will remain silent and will not confess until they moved on. We also have a friend that likes our brother or sister that ends with break up but we still consider them as a friend. It's true that in order to manage a relationship properly we have to be emotionally stable and mature enough to handle different situations. Being financially, emotionally and mentally stable is a great tool in life. There are lots of life lesson in this drama. Take time to realize everything (Family, Friends and Career)

Didnt like the ending . Jongha never got the chance to meet with hyejun’s family . Haeyo’s character didn’t develop at all . He didn’t even get the chance to confess his feelings for jongha. People are forgetting when it was mentioned in an early episode Hye Jun gives all his love when he’s in a relationship, but when it’s over he is done (with respect to Ji-ah, his ex). He even is so cold when he sees his ex again at the bar and moves on. Parallel this for when he sees Jeong Ha in the last 8 minutes of the show. He shows so much more joy to see her again, and it seems they are able to start fresh with the same witty back and forth they had in the beginning of their relationship.
Also, anyone notice the title of the drama he was acting for in the last scene? “Love comes with the RAIN.” Rain is the symbol of their relationship.
I feel like the ending hints at them restarting when they are now both in good spots in their lives.
1. I want to see what happened to lee tae su and park doha
2. The ending of the relationship of Jinu and Haena
3. Why didn’t yet Haehyo confessed his feelings to Jeongha
4. Jeongha never got the chance to meet Hyejun’s mother and family
5. I want to see reporter kim su man’s apology to Hyejun or her career to be crashed
6. The guy who video streamed lived regarding to Hyejun’s career. I want him to be sued badly
7. I didn’t yet saw Jeongha doing Hyeri’s makeup
8. AND MORE MORE MORE QUESTIONS. WRITER LEAVED US UNATTENDED

in my opinion the ending was quite realistic because they were pretty good friends before they started dating and seeing how they catch up and talk comfortably makes me feel like they were better of as friends.
It’s such a realistic ending. Falling in love with someone it doesn’t mean having a happy ending like fairytale.Hope they give one more chance to each other to start over. From the way they look at each other seems like they still having feeling with each other. Both main actor and actress are so professional they play so well.

I wasn't necessarily pushing this ship as much as I did for some other dramas, because I always just saw it as a melodrama. But I really was hoping that they did push the plot a slightly bit more. Some things feel unfinished. But it's fine with me that the main two leaders didn't end up together, because from the beginning their relationship pairing seemed a bit forced. They didn't give it much time to bloom necessarily.
This has a season 2.....but I am sorry that I will not watch this drama as I was hooked with both of them at first.... I want to remember them being together.. This is the reason why I wait to see the ending first because I won't be able to sleep for a long time thinking I didn't get the ending that I want...

This whole drama is so vague.
If talking about career, then there was nothing strong enough to emphasize the hardships that he had to overcome before becoming famous. If talking about relationship, there isn’t any super great chemistry between the leeds either. The love story was so so not to say a bit forcing. And most of the problems in the series being solved very briefly. And a lot of elements are left undone. Like Tae Su the bad character, what will happen to him? Do Ha the rude and arrogant actor, what will happen to him? What will happen to Haena? What will happen to Jin U? After 2 years hye Jun left, what happened to Joeng Ha? How was her business going, how come she had her own salon but then she said the directir called her? Etc.
This drama is more like a summary than a story lol.
Hye Jun met Joeng Ha -> dating. Went through struggles in career -> succeed -> decide to enlist -> come back after two years and meet Joeng Ha again.
Haeyo's feels for the female lead?

People being pressed with the ending but as the title RECORD OF YOUTH goes this makes a lot of sense. It showed YOUTH and it'd be weird if all of them found their happily ever after so young! Literally, every romantic drama has the ending where the couples are still a couple like the last ep is just so sweet and soft. I'm glad they followed RECORD OF YOUTH
I love how they give realistic ending for this drama!! I really really enjoyed this drama though it's kinda messy in the middle but I really love how realistic this drama is. Another one of the best drama to add in "my record of youth" hahahahaa
They tried too hard to givea la la land vibes ,without once truly trying to develop their relationship. The conflicts that arise are dragged along unnecessarily.This ending would have been more touching and appropriate if their relationship was given as much screen time as hye-jun's magnanimous career. Altho i didn't like la la land's end too, cos i strongly believe that love and career can coexist, however i feel la la land had been able to wrap some of the loose ends.. and tho not satisfying but the ending did strike a cord. Unfortunately, record of youth, a drama that started out so well, failed to do any of that.
La La Land has a ending that made worth watching the whole movie idk what you're talking about. The plot was quite ordinary until the ending but that scene when it shows what they could've been if they were together made the movie meaningful, that's what made the film memorable. But I do agree this drama lacks the complexity about relationship they had in La La Land, despite writers being desperate to give that kind of effect.

This ending in my opinion differentiates fantasy and reality in romance. The story is fictional but focuses on the reality of life. Overall a wonderful series!
I just finished watching this drama and my reaction was WT........ everybody knows what is the next letter. I keep telling my self that I'm gonna stop watching all these dramas that almost never have a happy ending but just like a sucker for love stories I'm starting a new one with hopes that maybe, just maybe I will see a happy ending. I am also tired of the endings that are letting you "believe" or "choose" the ending you want. That's a bowl of crap. When we as viewers watch these dramas, for the entire duration of the movie, we feel what the characters feel. All the emotion they go through, we go through as well and not just the main characters, but all characters, we go through the same things they do. We laugh, we cry, we hope but mainly we fell in love. For us it feels real as our hearts are skipping a few beats through out the entire movie. After all the sentimental exhaustion that we go through we are hit with one big stupid ending. I'm tired not to feel my soul fulfilled with the nectar called happy ending. The directors need to make a better job when they work on the end of the movie. Their meeting after 2 years, happened in the last 2 minutes of the movie. The producers want to make you believe that they fell for each other hard and deep and then they give them a little over 2 minutes at the end, where they literally casually walk by each other with emotionless faces, nothing to move you. I was waiting for a long stare into each other eyes, for tears pouring down their faces, for all the emotions that were oppressed for 2 years to explode thru their every pore. I wanted to see the moment they realized that is was a mistake to broke up two years prior or even if it was not a mistake, I wanted to see that the feelings they had for each other were still as strong if not stronger now that they have not seen each other for so long. I wanted to see all that sealed with a run towards each other and the biggest kiss you can see in those movies. Instead nothing. NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! A BIG NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Total disappointment.

My interpretation is they stayed as good friends. Cause when she invites him teasingly with "do you want to come" in 2:29 he says no, maybe that indicates something. I'm glad they are not salty about things since an amount of time has passed cause you know this happens in real life too, some people get over their ex within time and remain friends.
Couldn’t agree more. In my opinion, She still loves him because she wears the shoes that she got from him, although she gives an excuse. But for him, maybe he already moves on because he refuses to go to her shop. I think there is something behind this sentence. Why does he say no, if he is still loves her and want to date her again? T T I am sad that they will not be together again but yeah it’s reasonable enough that I have to accept this.

It's a happy ending for me. They did not go behind others, rather they focused on being more stable. And now they can come in together, this scene is enough to prove it.

I think that's the right ending. HyeJun should never change her dreams for JeongHa, she wont do the same too. This end show how you have to be mature for understand that love and a partner isn't everything in life. So beautiful and poetic end.
I can take it as a happy ending, right 🤩 not a grand happy ending as other romantic dramas but still nice and realistic. They are getting back together slowly and steadily this time~~~👫🏿
Although I feel that this ending could have been more detailed and have more depth, especially in relation to their relationship, it continues to be one of the best dramas I have seen, with good acting and a true story that leaves many positive lessons. Also, these Asian dramas really shine a spotlight on the media(journalists unscrupulous ways), these so call fans that turn on you at the drop of a dime with no concrete evidence against actors and singers, social media platforms, and the entertainment business as a whole. Fame doesn’t look so tantalizing through the eyes of the famous. I just knew the ML was going to throw in the towel and walk away from all that drama. And WHY is being in a committed relationship a darn crime for celebrities over there. I am darn sure that the directors, screenwriters, casting directors, agents, Kraft services, hair and makeup people, set designers, cameramen, stunt doubles, and the score or songwriters are married or in relationships, but the actors and singers get crucified for trying to find love which is what we all hope for in life.

This is the first time I saw a drama where in the ending both leads are alive, but don't get together!! When she said that she is not hung up on him, if he said "but I am hung up on you" and then gave a kiss or something, or held hands and showed that they were still in love and will have a happy ending, I think that would be soooo much more satisfying!!!! Just ending like that, like friends, when they were destined soulmates and lovers, not giving viewers what they want, is soooo rudeeee of the writer!!!!

I don’t even mind a ending where they break up. What I truly hate about a lot of kdrama break ups are the “I love you so much and I want to protect you so I will do what will hurt us the most and we will break up.” Please if you have me follow a love story for half the season the let’s break up not because we love each other so much but because we grew apart, the feelings are not the same or something more valid. People mention it’s realistic but how is I love you so much that I want to break up with you and hurt you and myself badly. After staying together through the business and craziness. I think the break up reason was just silly. This we’re talking as friends but not giving true direction to what their relationship will be after 16 episode is just mean and empty feeling.

I keep reading its "realistic" ending. Its a tv series, not based on life. The first episodes were ok, then kept getting boring. They say "I love you" their actions prove, that's not real love.So much crying, but its not convincing... What a BORING ENDING!
But it's good to have realistic shows because those are the only ones you can emotionally relate to.

A bit disappointing , but after some good thought , I like it very much, so deep and I love park so dam so much now . I ended up watching Cindereela and the 4 knights , her team up with jung il woo was fantastically awesome. Now I am waiting more drama and film for so dam with Park Seo Joon, Ahn Jae Hyun, Lee Sang yoon and more .

😩Oh you writers got me again.😭First, Park Bo-gum you have gained a fan. I was already a fan of the FL and I am a fan of the actress that played the friend’s sister that was dating the other friend of theirs. Now the writers got me by not giving my main leads, well we the fans worthy ending. As much as Park Bo-gum cried in this show, my baby needed her writing letters to him in those two years and running up to his Military Service ending ceremony.😭 Please writers. honestly i would have been satisfied with the two main leads not ending up together because I get it career gets in the way and they needed to kind of experience their personal success before sharing a life together. But what about the other characters, like haeyo and his sister were on the verge of getting set up for amazing character development! but the fact that haeyo just left, like maybe if he had returned and had discovered a passion for some other kind of career like counseling or teaching. He would have started from point A without any of his mom's connections and helped people.
Also his sister! I loved the fact that they didn't make her the typical spoiled heiress, like she was in freaking law school and she had a heart of gold! why didnt they fledge out her character more! It would have been nice to see her two years later like living on her own with some roommates and working at an entry level position at a law firm, doing good on her own!!!
I remember when hyejuns ex was telling haeyos sister about how her parents kind of controlled her life and thats why she had to break up with hyejun because he was not the type her parents wanted for her and her parents opinion matter more than her happiness. I really thought that was a turning point and a foreshadowing that haeyos sister would be different and she would end up happy and successful in her career without a man or her mother holding her back.
There were such amazing side characters in this story, I am so sad that they completely forgot about those narratives because it would have made the ending so much more satisfying to see ALL the characters end up in realistic places not just the main leads. I know people are saying it was realistic for people to break up and their right. But it would also be realistic to see a woman be successful in a career, even if its not the top law firm in the country. It is also realistic to give up on an modeling career and settle into an ordinary career, that does not mean you failed, thats just life development.
Who else think the drama has the same story line like the WEBTOON "true beauty"?

They both still love each other and has that feelings. Yeah in the end was not so happy of their breaking up
In real.life partners love birds he has not.much and he has not much support and he has to work hard from scratch an till he is a successful actor and make lots of money
It's hard to take it for girl who love him where he has so much to do and missing it's date 💔 and so it's true their heart breaking
But of course everyone fans love to watching dramas like this family friends and love makes you tears and want more happier endings

a lot of people aren't satisfied with this ending but i think it's nice, the story is very realistic and honest. let's stop being delusional it is the reality of life that people often choose career over love. It's actually a breath of fresh air from the too good to be true type of ending lol.
5/10, I was shocked their rating was higher than “Its Okay to not be Okay”. Storyline was cheap, im not impressed at all. I skipped so many lines and I don’t loose anything, I don’t have to find what I skipped.

Although, I want the "hopeless romantic" ending, where they'll reunite and declare their love for one another, and get married, etc. I have to settle with thinking that is how they'll end up with my own interpretation of the open-ended finale. Bittersweet finale, but I understand that the writer wants to change it up. SIGH!
I dont think I'm actually mad at this ending. I thought I would be, but I'm only on ep 4 and I already feel like these two just give off bestie vibes. I dont feel the romance between them. Maybe it's cause I'm still at the beginning, or maybe it's cause they are their own people. In dramas I'm used to incomplete characters coming together to complete each other which is why there's usually something so electric and just so right between them. But for these two, while they are struggling, their individuality and their personalities already feel complete. I dont feel like they're adding anything to each other. So ig I don't NEED them to end up together. Whether they do or don't doesn't really bother me. I like that.
